Southeast 1A

Chichester 6 v 10 Brighton, according to texts from two different players. No idea how the game went other than that.

A massive well done to the staffs lads today. Played so hard and worth the draw. Ahead for most of 2nd half

wouldn't exactly call our game with staffs lacrosse. A pitch that had gone beyond unplayable and hilariously bad refereeing meant lacrosse couldnt be played.

Our bad for actually trying to play, lucky we managed to draw

sorry!? bad refereeing?? this is Birmingham whose refereeing was gash and led to dangerous plays while we were down there and i have heard from 2 other teams that they considered making complaints about you.

your disrespect cost you today!
one guy saying how it would be 'embarrassing' to lose to us and another saying you made us 'look good' then to top off what a sore bnch you are you didn't even give 3 cheers at the end of the game.

oh yeah and saying you'd scored goals before even taking shots was massive disrespect to my lad in goal!

Ye pitch wasn't great but was same for both? And all refs were qualified and fair. How about you congratulate a team who have played and trained their arses off instead of bitching?

Look at it retrospectively. Referee wise, when we traveled to you the refereeing led to what would be classified as 3 of your lads getting locked up for assault/ gbh :)
Did that happen today? No.
Pitch wise, its equal for both teams and the sport is played 'in the air' so other than the odd slip it wasnt that bad a problem. It was either play on that pitch or not at all! So just quit the bitching and get on with it.
2 other teams have said they were going to formally complain about your home refereeing as did we. Thats 3 of 6 teams including you in the league, its not only hypocritical to talk about our bad reffing but also laughable.

To me we wanted it more today and thats that.

Sounds like Staffs are coming on leaps and bounds. Was the game at Brum earlier in the season 18-2?

Interesting to hear about the pitch though, was it covered in sour grapes or something?

I played a game on that pitch on saturday and have to say it wasn't in the best condition to play on however i disagree that it was not playable. I have played on worse pitches in the past.

Yeah was 18-2 with every little tap being a send off, the result didnt reflect the true performance but also didnt cause us to lose, just today shows that we can play!

Just my 2 cents, speaking as a (relative) neutral and looking at the previous results this year, it sounds like that Brum went expecting to win and Staffs had a great game.

I don't think referees and pitches can account for a 16 goal deficit from a previous game. If Brum had only beaten Staffs by four goals in the previous game then maybe, but not 16.

I'm not blaming the refs or the pitch for the draw today, as has been said above we came to the game with the wrong attitude. Every game in this league will be competitive now, and tbh the league rides on every game as well.
Teams can complain about refs until they're blue in the face and I think it's something that the ELA are trying to address atm, but you never hear winning teams complain about them! Sour grapes? Not quite, just a bunch of pissed off lads looking to blame anything but themselves for the performance. Staffs played well and deserve to congratulate themselves on it. We've got a lot to take away from today and put into practice, so all the best in the remainder of the league and make sure to give Trent a tough time for us! :D

Thank you! Remember you actually looking and acting humble after the game which is the right attitude to have as we worked our arses off today as you probably could tell with how we reacted after. Not to dwell on the reffing, but most fouls blew were actually double send offs for players reacting to each other and not respecting the officials, nothing too contentious like disallowed goals to win the game etc. We even gave you the 'extra?' 10 seconds at the death aswell.

Don't worry too much we will try to give trent a game!

Southampton 1sts 9 - 9 - Bristol 2nds

0-6

After being dominated in the first quarter, fair play to Southampton for bringing it back in an exact repeat of last years game!

Thanks A. S it was one of the funnest games of Lacrosse I've played this year, each teams goal keeper kept their respective team in it!

Now then chaps, couple of questions;

- what's the set up - league structure, cups etc - probably leads on to...

- ...has anyone got up to date league tables? Can't believe how many places there are playing I've barely heard of, let alone knew they had a lacrosse team; great to see.

- what's the standard like? I know a few of you will play NEMLA / SEMLA.

And refs? They're always bobbins wherever you play. Best off leaving them to do whatever they do in their own little world and play the game as best you can.

The easiest place the see the league and cup tables is here

http://www.bucs.org.uk/sport.asp?sectio ... e=Lacrosse

In the bottom right hand corner there is a table that lets you view mens and ladies teams, leagues and cups. Apparently there are 166 teams, 53 leagues and 24 cups which is pretty impressive.

Standards are pretty varied in the South, going from mostly freshers teams, to sides that can easily compete at the top end of East/West div 1, and teams tend to vary year on year with lots of new players graduating.

The refs are often the guys who do SEMLA at the weekend.
Sadly not born stick in hand.
