Re: BUCS Results 31/10/12
Also, I don't know when Bristol vs Oxford 2nd fixture is, and I dont know what the score was today in the exe vs ox game, but it would be very a pretty sad way for the league to be decided if it's because ex play oxford twice with their americans and bristol only have to play them once....

Re: BUCS Results 31/10/12
Bristol 13 - 5 Warwick At 3-3 after the first quarter it was shaping up as the tight game I thought it would be, but at the half was 6-3 and after the 3rd was 10-3 as Bristol stepped up a gear and looked a lot more confident in possession than they did in the 1st meaning they could control the game ...

Re: Unfair American Advantage for Oxford
It's possibly questionable whether exchange students are eligible to play in BUCS anyway... the requirements are to be doing at least 50% of a full time course or at least 60 credits (most UG degrees have 120 credits minimum per year.) A lot of exchange programmes are not really credited properly an...

Re: SEMLA County Tournament POSTPONED
Gareth, I think that I wrote in that thread that the intention was to offer more people the chance to get involved at a more local level so that the same old people weren't always expected to do everything. No fixed rules, do it their way, create their own systems, hopefully form their own County A...

Re: Running Up the Score - A Class"less" Act
It's a pretty baseless assumption, but Im pretty sure those games probably involved the same 'superstars' beating defenders who they knew they were better than, or taking big shots against keepers that they knew wouldnt save them. The exception in my mind is probably the durham game - obviously they...

Re: SEMLA County Tournament POSTPONED
I wish this weren't the case, but you said in a different thread that teams were expected to be organised autonomously and independently, which will just never work as good as it sounds. You need to recruit someone from each region explicitly to coordinate...

Re: Unfair American Advantage for Oxford
As somebody pointed out, we had another American player last year and, contrary to what he said above, last year's player was better than either of our two new guys but we didn't win the league and in fact got better results as a team after he had left. Btw, I have no idea how good your two new guy...

Re: BUCS results 17/10/12
Exeter 1s game was postponed, not sure why The game was abandoned after 30 minutes because the pitch cut up so badly and could not take two games (Exeter 2's played their game first). One goal area in particular was a sea of mud with crease lines obliterated. It would have been dangerous to continu...

Re: Unfair American Advantage for Oxford
I'll admit, when I saw the scoreline against exeter, I assumed oxford must have got some decent north american talent for a change. I mean, the guy last year was alright but all he could really do was win 100% faceoffs, and the pole the year before was a bit slow really. Get a couple of decent shoot...

Re: BUCS Promotion Playoffs
Im pretty glad that lufbra got promoted given the reaction on the previous page. Disgraceful. Two years ago, Warwick beat lufbra by one goal, and in doing so got promoted instead of them, condemning Lufbra to a league they were too good for for two years (since they didnt quite win their playoff las...

Re: English Universities Team 2012
As you may be aware, the North and South University teams have been combined this year to make a single English Unis team for the British Nationals. From my point of view it has been really interesting to see some of the best university players come out to trials, and I'm confident our final squad ...

Re: Lacrosse The Pond
Count the Cambridge mentions. Other than Exeter, which other Unis are participants? I fired off something to them to use to promote Warwick but it was kinda last minute so Im not sure how effective it will be. As Loake said above, I think being able to offer a fee discount or some kind of financial...

Im going to say Loughborough to finally make it up to the prem, and probably Essex to replace Brighton in the south.

Re: Mid-season talking points
West 1 : Southampton, Cardiff, Warwick or Bristol for the second relegation spot? Portsmouth and Warwick have played fewer games than some of their opponents, is this a sign of a problem across all uni teams in the SEMLA game? We obviously have a problem with holidays being pretty un-doable for us ...

Oxford 13 -10 Warwick
(Perhaps 14-10? Oxford put a couple on at the end when we were chasing and I lost track a bit.)
Thanks for the game Oxford and well played, lead changed hands a couple of times and it was tight the whole way through but we just got edged out overall.

Re: BUCS Results 22/2/2012
And the final game, Manchester 11 - 3 Exeter. Both great games to watch, Durham cruised at times looking a bit lazy, and the opportunities Loughborough did have they looked a little nervous and misfired several times. Durham very much in control for most of the game, save the first 2 minutes or so. ...

Exeter 12 - 1 Warwick Thanks for driving all that way and for staying for a beer after. Exeter claim the south prem with that win for a second year running. Warwick as always a great game and good lads, good luck for the last few games. Seriously good result for our defence after shipping 19 last t...
