It was my baby, my treasure, my intsrument of immense pain... then I snapped it against someone's chest while playing Royal Holloway, don't know who it hurt more, me or him :( Right now I'm looking for a replacement shaft since it wasn't actually mine... Meanwhile I'm carving one for myself out of mahogany. It's hard and heavy... it's gonna be AWESOME! I'll get the REVO Pro head on it with a trad pocket, that head is nice and sturdy with a good, basic design.

That sounds sick. Mahogany will be beautiful and strong, I hope you oil it up to make that dark wood glow: stand out a bit from the cheap woods. Post some pics when you're done, and I expect to see a cool burned wood logo!

Brine Flipgrip Magnum with Warrior Revo Pro, I've also got a Cheeky Lax Hickory but that only comes out when I want to deal particular pain. Thre of our players now have magnums (its catching I tell you)

Fully agree with that one, Magnum flipgrips are the way forward.

Did have a bionic, which is a very decent head, on there but just got a Revo Pro to make a change and its playing like a champ. Solid as a rock!

On saturday I finished stringing my Revo Pro. I put it on a new hickory shaft and decided to give it a go against Herts Comets... It was good. I managed to give one attacker a dead arm and another one was carried off the pitch as I layed the smack down on his knee... it was accidental as I was going for a stick check on a ground ball, and he was cool with it afterwards so it was all ok.
After using a Krypto Alloy shaft for a couple of games temporarily, it felt so good to have wood in my hands again (no pun intendid...) It's like viagra after a spell of impotence! I'm still carving the mahogany as it's a bit thick and still need to buy a saw and some nice varnish... and maybe some burn-carving equipment to make a cool design on it.

What kind of retard are you?

Did you even pick up the ball?

Pain should be a side effect of effective play rather than an end in itself

He was going for the ground ball and I was going to knock the stick out of his hands. He had only just scooped the ball when I hit. The ball flew out of his stick and the follow-through went into his knee. It's not as if he was happily skipping around and I randomly decided to take his legs out with a 6 ft. pole.

Defending the check is at least honourable.
If anyone does actually want Hickory short or long poles see my add in selling as I have 3 off each in stock by the end of the week.

They are not weapons , but nothing beats the feel of a good hard piece of "Wood" in your hand some say

Hard mesh all the way, defs go with the Jimalax kit from Ray, he's got some good deals going on it. check out Ebay, I think he is listing on there too.

The idea for whip is how you string it not what you string it with. All you have to do is miss out a hole high up and then it will move the pocket higher.

traditional pockets are awesome. Once you get used to it and the leathers stretch out a little, you can get some serious whip on it, especially with tight shooting strings. the traditional Revo Pro on a wooden shaft, the ultimate defensive weapon.

So we're talking about a long pole?!?!
You like whip so you can crank?!?!
Ok firstly I would say whip on a D pole isn't necessary, unless you've grown up with (or only played since uni with) a stick with lots of whip and now find that you cant play with anything else.

I'd suggest you don't have whip, becuase then when you're clearing to your middies and attack men, you can throw the ball to them accuratly.

The whip is always nice to have for bullet passes. I guess it's a matter of what you're used to and your passing/shooting style but I've always found that with at least a bit of whip you can get it accurate and fast, which, as long as the middies or attackers can catch it, are awesome. The type of stringing you use is entirely dependent on your style of play (though trad pockets still look amazing :) )

I find that since using my hickory i aim a lot more for gloves and wrists as a strike of metal and wood could break my pole. I find i miss some checks cos i know it could break my pole. This weekend against bristol my hick bent like sh*t when guys landed on it. i had to rip it out. nearly snapping it then.

My advice is don't use the Borg shaft if it's going to affect your play like that! I would suggest using it for training to build up the arms!.
