A nice feature on what it takes to be a NCAA Athlete from Salisbury University Lacrosse "Seagulls" - NCAA Div III Champions x9
http://video.insidelacrosse.com/video/v ... road-to-10

To Join the Gull Club must do all following:
- Run a mile & a half in under 9 mins
- Bench Press your bodyweight 10+ times
- x15 or more "Legit" Pull ups
- x25 or more Dips

How do our athletes compare?

No idea.

Apparently most universities/colleges look for the big 3 - Bench, Squat and Deadlift (all 1 rep max).

The US Army had a similar obsession with upper body when I went out there a few years ago. I asked the Sgt why they put so much into upper body strength when the Brits do more endurance leg and fitness work. I was told it was essential for when you get into hand to hand combat.

I tried to explain the precise function of the rifle we'd each been given but was told to shut up and do the chin-ups...
