I notice Virginia@Stoney Brook is eventually scheduled for Friday, but did I miss Notre Dame coverage?

No

they have not shown it so far they have shown Duke v UNC & Army v Cornell twice so far

apparently there was a power outage during the game when it was shown in USA so coverage was interrupted

hopefully they will show it at some point. it was a defensive battle that cost Coach Cottle his job

so it would be good to see what happened (Yankees vs Mets over ran so original showing was cancelled on ESPN America)

currently Stony Brook vs Virginia scheduled for Friday 28th 13:30-15:00

but who knows if they will reschedule?

Semi-Finals & Final are scheduled back-to-back on Bank Holiday Monday

Monday 31st May 2010
17:30-19:00 Duke vs Virginia

19:00-20:30 Cornell vs Notre Dame

20:30-23:00 Final LIVE

Coaches in the spotlight

Haven't seen him at work, but the Maryland season was a struggle despite the massive talent pool at his disposal.
Hopkins people are disappointed too. I remember Dave Petremala as a great player, and you might have played against him to know better, but his players seem frozen in awe whenever pressure is applied. He let his guard slip towards the end of the Loyola game when an errant defender received the full public hair-dryer. Maybe that glimpse of the real Coach P reveals why great players are asking to transfer away.

If anybody is in Southampton and wants to watch the games on a big screen, we have got the stags head (SU pub) to show all of the semis and the final on Monday evening.
Currently M.I.A. - I'll be back.

Maryland vs Virginia

this game was shown in full on TV this morning

fun game to watch, at one point there were three fast breaks back-to-back

Both teams don't like each other and it was a physical game, there were a couple of perfectly executed body checks "on the numbers" but unfortunately the officials erred on the side of safety and called penalties on them even though they weren't high hits.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9oFisYA4hs

I'm 100% behind officials calling head hunting hits but it would be a shame to see all body checks made illegal as it is an intrinsic part of the game.

Maryland play aggressive defence and really push transition with one or even two poles willing to carry the ball upfield and create offense.

All the ACC teams are fun to watch but I still feel Maryland will be there at the end

The game was played in UVA's Football Stadium

Shamel Bratton was suspended for the game for breaking team rules (second time missed a game due to suspension in 2011)

The speed of ball movement and dodging/cutting is a joy to watch :D

In quiet moments I heard the Terp goalkeeper call "save", the top two defenders turn blind up-field on a slant, and the clearing/attacking pass arrives in stick even with Ramel Bratton trying to keep up. I reckon Maryland practise their fast clear every now and then.

Old-fashioned feeding from X to close-in cuts was effective against the Virgina defense. Great to watch as a contrast to the usual clear-out and drive by a one man team.

Highlights: http://www.virginiasportstv.com/?load=l ... 394&f=.mov

The fast break clear is one of many aspects of old school lacrosse that have gone the way of the Dodo in the English game

Goalies shouting "Clearing" as the shot was on the way and the defender who was marking the shooter sprinting up field expecting the outlet pass for the fast break.

Cheadle in 80s
Stockport in 90s

were brilliant at this, and it is demoralizing for an opponent to see a shot saved then a goal conceded 10 seconds later.

For those who have recorded this game off ESPN America

check out the Maryland EMO @ 4:58 in 2nd Q

It is perfectly executed including good ball and player movement leading to lay-up on crease
2-3-1 to 1-3-2 to 4-2
