I've never heard about Wooden's Pyramid of Success, his speech on the difference between success & winning has some merit.

his use of prose as an educator and coach is different from modern sport psych & prozone methodologies

According to Coach John Wooden, this poem was written by George Moriarty, a former major baseball umpire.

The Road Ahead:

"Sometimes I think the fates must grin as we denounce them and insist,

The shining trophies on our shelves can never win tomorrow’s game.

There are some amazing books about and by John Wooden. All are worth a read - an amazing coach and teacher.

Mr Collier used to swear by a book called something like Building a Champion by Bill Walsh

What's your favourite or most inspirational coaching book?

My favourite coach is Roy Simmons Jr (Slugger) an ex-boxer and artist, who believed that lacrosse was an element of learning to express yourself as part of your overall education.

I like the idea that Coach Wooden was an English teacher

both coaches obviously successful communicators to the Heart as well as the Head

my other favourite was Bill Shankly, core values and man of the people

and on lacrosse front the innovative approach of Gary Gait

Kelly Amonte-Hiller gets her players to perform at a level and intensity I haven't seen in other women's sports but I haven't got a clue how she does it.
