Tour 2013/2014

Postby kas43 Tue Jun 04, 2013 11:37 pm

hi,
I'm responsible for the Aberystwyth university lacrosse team tour next year and I've been discussing with the team about destinations and I was just curious as to where the other teams are heading? just so I can have an idea on whats popular with other teams :)
thanks,

most teams won't have decided unless they're going to their habitual destinations, they'll have been too busy thinking about exams/summer to worry about it. Maybe try asking again in late September/early October when the new Uni year starts?

If you really want to investigate further then from memory these definitely have Lax
Saloufest (run by Ilovetour)
Dublin
Sportsvest (Llorrett de mar?)

and then there's
Damfest (Amsterdam)
Croatia?
and probably some more that might have LaX...

Good luck. Salou and Dublin always have loads of people about, AFAIK the standard of lax in Dublin is higher but Salou is in Spain and you don't have to drink Guinness (sangria instead...)
Currently M.I.A. - I'll be back.

I've looked at ilovetour, they only offer croatia and salou for lacrosse, I've suggested this to my team and I got a response from a member to ask on here for others opinions, damfest is for hockey btw

The opinion is generally the same each year: If you're bothered about playing anything to a close level of decent lacrosse, don't bother going. Having said that, I think Dublin take the lacrosse a bit more seriously - play then get hammered, but I've never been.

If you want to get wasted in the sun, ILoveTour do OK trips.

Europe have a number of Lacrosse tournaments throughout the summer months... Or do you want to go during the season?

A few off the top of my head are

Berlin Open - Germany
Goblin Games - Belgium
Prague Cup -
Amsterdam Lowlands

from extensive product testing and market research I can safely say you will have an amazing time at both Salou and Dublinfest. They are both very similar, uni level drinking antics mixed with lax that can sometimes end up a shambles, however it's always fun.

The only difference apart from the weather is that Salou has a 'gap day' for 'sight seeing'. Don't recall one of those in dublin...

Aberdeen went to Croatia last year.. Was gash. Nights out were alright but some of our guys had their rooms broken into and stuff nicked, one of the girls woke up as some guy was sneaking into her room to nick stuff, reps weren't much help, weather was dire and only made bearable by top lads from Essex and Nottingham participating in a huge mixed game. Men's lax didn't happen.

Salou 09 - ILoveTour Saloufest, massive fun lacrosse tournament down at the local football stadium. Loads going on but not serious. Weather was good at start and end but tipped it down during. Can't remember what the nights out were like  but riotous expected

Dublin 2010 - SportsParty DublinFest, very serious lacrosse with teams from Ireland, Switzerland and Germany usually involved. Nights out were amazing. Quite expensive generally, but altogether depends on how good your lacrosse team is.

Lloret-de-Mar 2011 - SportsParty LloretFest, this year only Nottingham and Hull turned up so played about 15 games of mixed, and 1 game of Men's. Nights out were quality. Weather was great. Good value for money. Most recommended.

Salou 12 - ILoveTour Saloufest, see 2009 but the weather was a little better. Confirming that the nights out were an absolute riot, but there are PLENTY of people there and its good.

Croatia 13 - ILoveTour, pretty average. 1 game of mixed, good laugh and then we played dodgeball and netball. Nights out were great but overall not the best.

Hope this helps

Been to Saloufest for the past 2 years with UWE
Can confirm that it is AWESOME.

From what I've heard from the Bristol Uni Lads Dublin Is more expensive and the games are a little more serious

Saloufest Lax is not serious one bit so that's something to consider, I played about 3 men's games this year all of them I was totally hammered...
there was a lot of teams this year too, and I heard from one of them said that Croatia wasn't amazing the year they went before.

Hey guys,
Croatia won our vote so does anyone have any experience of it (not just bad) so I can get a rough idea if I can set that up safely or not

Thanks,

Dublin 2010 was amazing, alot of teams and even good weather not counting the first day

Salou 2011 was crazy, went for week 2 so wern't as many men's teams and the lacrosse days felt a bit of a waste of time when we realised we could be on the beach boozing instead.

Dublin 2012, alot less mens teams than usual but still a good laugh and nights out good as ever

dublin 2013, only 1 other mens team, plenty of mixed and womens about, had a good game against the irish lads. Unfortunately the main clubs in dublin were either being refurbed or didn't want the tour crowd anymore so had a few repeat nights in smaller clubs.

From what i have heard about croatia, porec i believe, is that there isn't enough organisation there and the general area doesn't welcome the tour spirit really. I would want to see some serious effort and advertising promising a few things before i commited there. I think birmingham will be returning to spain this year, just decide between lloret and salou, probably based on where the most uni's go tbh.

This thread:

"Hi. Where shall we go on tour?"

"Salou - great, Dublin - good, Croatia - not so much"

"We've chosen Croatia"
