Bristol 13 - 5 Warwick

At 3-3 after the first quarter it was shaping up as the tight game I thought it would be, but at the half was 6-3 and after the 3rd was 10-3 as Bristol stepped up a gear and looked a lot more confident in possession than they did in the 1st meaning they could control the game a bit more, with Warwick chasing and hurrying their possessions as a result which didn't help them out. I must say, the Bristol of the last two years has been pretty similar to the Warwick team I remember playing in 2-3 years ago - well drilled, disciplined, confident on the ball and in their passing and able to zip the ball around quickly in attack. Shows what you can achieve without too many players who have played before uni and a fair amount of practice (Im sure having a coach probably helps!)

Were there not a number of americans floating around other teams I think the Bristol team would probably be up among the top few teams on their day.

Probably need to brush up on their knowledge of what constitutes a personal foul though ;)

Also, I don't know when Bristol vs Oxford 2nd fixture is, and I dont know what the score was today in the exe vs ox game, but it would be very a pretty sad way for the league to be decided if it's because ex play oxford twice with their americans and bristol only have to play them once....

Bournemouth 12 - 5 Bristol 2's

Great game to play in, apart from picking up a tossing dead leg, a painful yet **** sounding injury, Bristol picked it up a notch from 2 weeks ago, and we had our work cut out, a great 2nd and 3rd quarter from Bournemouth allowed us to slow it down a bit in the 4th. Hope to play you guys again, very enjoyable day despite the very bracing winds.

Brighton 5 - 3 Imperial College

Both teams enjoyed a roughly equal share of possession, but both had goalkeepers on form. Imperial will quite rightly view this as a fixture they could have won. It would be interesting to see these two teams face each other on a better quality surface than the boggy grass pitch Brighton have been forced on to by their AU, as the poor conditions underfoot yesterday hampered both teams when attacking.

Many thanks to Imperial for making the journey down to the coast, and to both teams for being a pleasure to referee.

Cheers for the game! Shame both our matches fell within 2 weeks of each other, think it would have been a tight contest had we played you a bit later in the season. I was the Bristol goalie, by the way. So good to be back playing again (haven't played in around a month due to broken thumb!).

Apologies for concussing one of your players! Hope he's alright! Although to be fair, you had a huge team (11 subs, wasn't it?) so I'm sure you would have coped without him had it been earlier in the game!

Not even sure who it was, im sure he'll be fine, yeh, twas a bit a bit of a shame we played each other so quickly, ill try and arrange a friendly for later on/maybe see each other in a cup, and yeh our squad size has come on somewhat due a pretty impressive haul of freshers, had 8/9 players at the end of last season, so to be able to bring along that many is quite good for us, trying to instill belief in the Uni to start up a 2nds squad next year. Its depressing how much quicker the freshers have picked it up compared to myself..

Less that 20 goals for Durham....they must be gutted.

HAllam have some quality players (though they only had 10 last week) . Thats the Championship and probably the cup sewn up for Durham already. Hallam should take second in the league based on results so far and having seen them play.

Without having seen the quarter scores, I bet they're not. I'd venture the result was in the bag before the end of the third quarter.

Looking at their consistent hammering of everyone over the last couple years, I'm sure Durham could have put another ten on Hallam if they were remotely inclined, and I mean no disrespect to Hallam when I say that. Ever since Durham University decided to buy the Championship I have not been shy in condemning them, but fair play to the Durham players on this occasion for not running up the score.
