They cancelled their last 3 games, us, sheff uni and halam. We were really looking forward to playing them and a night out in edinburgh! Their team had some sort of meeting with their au today about what ever happened last week, so no idea what happened :S. Pretty sure they got deducted points too.

What the hell?! When we played them in Scotland 3 weeks ago they had about 15 americans, that's madness!

can't travel?

We were travelling to them, so they have no excuse. Ridiculous that a prem team can't put out a 1st team. BUCS need to sort it out.

They'll be out of the prem and barred from it for at least a year. And be heavily fined.

Sadly, although that is supposedly the rule, i'm not sure if it will actually happen; last year they cancelled our rescheduled away match against them the morning of the game, as we drove from Dundee to St Andrews, and saw nothing come of it, despite games being cancelled carrying large penalties.

Wasn't that due to field condition or something?

Yeah, they apparently had nowhere that we could play. Is that a particular exception then?

This is sad to hear, it sounds like when they are full strength they have easily got a team that could contend in the prem. But not being able to play their home fixtures is insane! I have been to St Andrews a few times and was considering going there. The sports facilities they have are pretty good, astro turf and such. Plus if I'm not mistaken, I think lacrosse is one of the few, if not the only sport that the uni can boast having a team in a premiership, so you would think they would receive more support from their AU?

Well, well, well, from what I hear from our president this morning, St. Andrews have withdrawn from the league. All seemed to happen very fast...

This is what we've heard in Aberdeen....

ST As conceded a game and have been told they must pay £2000 to the other team to cover travel and accommodation costs.
BUCS have then charged them a further £500 for doing so.
Their Sports Union have put them on probation for the next 6 weeks whereby they must travel to and attend every game, paying their own costs, or they will be disbanded.
They've asked to be demoted back to the Scottish League 1A.

What a shame! To be fair the way they seem to have organised themselves at times has been appalling, cancelling any game is rubbish but doing it constantly and in the manner in which they conceded to Nottingham last year is unacceptable. But it does seem as though they have received no support from their AU, which for any club performing in the top flight of BUCS is awful! and with the points deduction from any team that have played them it's affected other uni's. I wish them the best of luck with their probation but it would be interesting to hear about what happened from their point of view

Could this mean a potential double promotion to the northern prem? No play off between winner of northern 1A and Midlands 1A...

Perhaps, however there would have to be some sort of play off because of the Scottish league. But then again they could just do what they did last year and have no relegation...

I'd imagine this is far more likely to happen. Any team would have good grounds to complain if they were demoted from a league for finishing 5th when they were told that whoever finished 6th would go down.

A double promotion would be great for the North Prem. Would make for a really competitive league I think?

Durham
Manchester
Sheffield Hallam
Sheffield Uni
Nottingham
Leeds Met

Thats a good looking league in my opinion, combination of the best uni teams in the country!

Yeah definitely a strong league. Whilst i'd say Durham are still ahead of the others, they aren't as good as last season so could be a great season, especially when the Cup starts to run properly (not just the same fixtures like this year!). In some ways its a shame North / South teams don't get more opportunities to play one another...

True, but I think they'll be a better side once they get more organised.
