Postby ELA SE RDO Thu Feb 17, 2011 3:12 pm

Dear All,

We have finalised times and location for the 2nd Men's Freshers Tournament
It will be held on Sunday 27th February, from 11 - 3pm at the Imperial College grounds at Harlington

Hopefully this should mean it should be easy for everyone to get to, but if there are problems with timings etc then please let me know.
As always, even if you haven't got a full team don't worry - the day is for teams like you so please make the effort to come along! Now the majority of BUCS fixtures are over now is a really good time to start working on 2nd teams for next year...

Please could all those wanting to attend get back to me or Steve asap so we can start planning the day!

Hi guys,

Just wanted to try and jog up a bit more interest for this weekends upcoming planned tournament for your Freshers.

At the moment we have not heard back from ANYONE!

When we spoke with your University clubs last year, development tournaments were something you all wanted to see more of, so we are trying to give you the chance to get out there and play some more games with your freshers!

We are really trying to run these events for you guys and if it is something that you are just not interested in anymore then we can always just drop the idea!

Please get back to us and let us know if you are or are not interested, ideally with some form of reason why you are not interested would be great. Hopefully then we can develop a better plan for this sort of thing for the future!

Many thanks,

The comp on the sunday 20th of feb up in nottingham got alot of interest, maybe its the location which is a far stretch for the more northern uni's which in general have the larger development programs coupled with the 11 am start which is causing no replies.

Just an idea though!

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your post, we had initially aimed this tournament at all of the South and South East based Universities but had no response. Only 1 out of all the London Universities got back to us so location shouldn't have been a problem. I take on board the timing issue and will make sure that we see about putting the next one on at a bit of a later time!

Many thanks though mate,
Steve

Hi everyone,

Really sorry to announce that due to a lack of interest / responses to the registration for this tournament I am afraid we are going to have to cancel the event!

Many thanks to the 3 Universities that did get back to us!

Many of the south western universities are already competing in a fresher tournament at Exeter on the same day. It may be a large factor as to why you got so little interest.

They're opened up to different universities so that won't be a factor...of course if any of the S.E. unis fancy a trip to Exeter on Sunday they are more than welcome!

Out of interest did you try approaching any of the Universities directly or was this the only way of them finding out?
