On the front page of the Telegraph this morn, there was something about the Iroquois team being seemingly denied entry to the UK for using there own passports
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... -team.html
seemingly the UK asked the US to verify it as a proper document in writing but no such luck http://edition.cnn.com/2010/SPORT/07/13 ... Cb787ClYsG ?

Never believe what you read in the papers. The problem is not with the UK authorities but the US Dept of State and Homeland Security who have not guaranteed that the the squad will be allowed back into USA if travelling on Nations passports, this is the latest exchange in a political row that has been going on for over 20 years in the States.

Re: Iroquois denied entry to UK?
Yeah, I read in a more recent article that they won't issue the letter as it's only "in emergencies"...seems like a conscious effort to force the hand of the US, not that I blame at all them given their history.

BBC Radio Wales has secured an interview with Dr Percy Abrams, Executive Director for the Iroquois Nationals Association, for later today - tune in to Good Evening Wales from 1600 onwards - aiming to be on air at 1650 but it may move earlier depending on how things go.
In Wales, you can listen on:
FM: 93-96 & 104 FM
medium wave on 657 & 882 AM,
channel 0117 on Sky digital satellite,
channel 714 on Freesat,
channel 719 on Freeview (Digital terrestrial),
channel 931 on Digital cable.
If you're outside Wales, go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/radiowales/ and click on 'listen live'.
And if you cant catch it live, you can listen again on the BBC iPlayer - search for "Good Evening Wales"

NEW YORK (AP) - A spokeswoman for the Iroquois lacrosse team
says the U.S. government has agreed to allow the team to travel
abroad under passports issued by the Iroquois Confederacy.
Tonya Gonnella Frichner, a member of the Onondaga Nation who
works with the team, says the U.S. State Department dropped a
demand that the team travel using higher-security U.S. passports.
The team still has not been issued British visas to attend the
Lacrosse World Championship in Manchester, England.
The team needs to get on a Wednesday flight to make a Thursday
evening game.
The players say being forced to accept U.S. passports would be
an attack on their identity.
