Free Lacrosse Clinic - January 2012

Postby TwoOne Wed Nov 16, 2011 11:44 pm

Dear Players/Coaches/Parents

There is plans for a clinic on Sunday January 8th 2012 that will be open to ages U12-U19 (Boys) and will be absolutely free of charge. We will ask only for donations to a charity (to be decided) as we plan to raise as much money we possibly can in memory of Eddie Thornber. Many of you may not have known Eddie but those of you that did know he was an amazing guy who was taken from us far too early. Eddie played at Manchester Wacs LC and therefore this is where we plan to hold the clinic.

The camp will be aimed to be approx 4 hours long, run by myself and English Knights/Manchester Wacs Coach, and close friend of Eddie, Scott Weddell. The crew of coaches will also be England National Team players along with many experienced coaches. Again this is going to be completely free and we ask only for donations to what will definitely be a great cause. It's rare that clinics like this are firstly free and secondly equipped with a large coaching staff with such a wealth of experience. We aim to not only raise money for charity but also provide top class coaching mid-way through the season and what we hope to be a great day of lacrosse. The "English Knights" travel team will also be there training with an opportunity for players to be seen by the Knights coaching staff for future tours to the USA. Eddie himself was a loved member of the Knights travel team.
We are currently in talks with lacrosse companies and possible sponsors to make this a truly great day for all involved. If you have any interest in being a part of the sponsorship or just have any questions whether you are a parent or player, feel free to email me at jak_waw100@hotmail.com and make the subject "Lacrosse Clinic."

Please keep this date free and in mind. Register your interest here on LaxForums and there will be much more information to follow!

I look forward to the opportunity and hope to see you January. Please pass this information on where you can.

Interest and commitment has been great so far. Over 50 registered online with many expected to register on the day. PLEASE continue to advertise around your club and through Facebook/Twitter. Even if you can't make it on the day and would love to support an amazing Charity (see website) then you can donate online at www.justgiving.com/ET2Lacrosse.

There is up to date information on the website and there will be a concise plan of the day posted this week.

Already we have potentially raised around £1000 with the clinic, donations and the raffle. A huge thanks goes to UKLacrosse and all those involved for their continued support.

Hope to see you all in the New Year to raise money for a loved and missed young man and to enjoy a great day of Lacrosse with some excellent players and coaches.
