2012 Wales u19s/u21s

Postby laxwill11 Thu Feb 03, 2011 6:40 pm

All,

I am pleased to announce that the first open training session for players eligible to represent Wales at the 2012 World u19 Championships will take place in Malvern on Sunday 27th February 2011 from 10.00am-4.00pm.

Welsh lacrosse is committed to developing lacrosse in Wales. As such, we are particularly keen that eligible players who live and/or play lacrosse in Wales attend training, regardless of previous experience/playing level. We also welcome other eligible Welsh non-residents who can demonstrate a commitment to growing the game here as well as being proud to represent their country.

Registration will take place at 10.00 with all players kitted up and ready at that time. If you are thinking about attending, please PM or Email me to give us an idea of numbers.

All players are expected to bring kit suitable for outdoor training, with appropriate footwear for grass and astroturf. You must also bring a reversible training vest with a dark and white/light side.

**IGNORE THIS POST - PROBLEM SOLVED - PLEASE SEE LATER POST**

Sorry folks, the venue will now NOT be Malvern - the groundsman has advised that following the bad weather, and a tournament played on the pitches this weekend just gone, they will not be playable even by the weekend. An alternative venue is being sought and details will be posted as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience

Are you looking to get a venue in the Worcester area still? I've got a B&B booked and I don't fancy losing the deposit :D.

Problem solved - the venue will still be at the same place in Malvern but training will be on sand-based astroturf, so please bring appropriate footwear.

Worth pointing out as well that I don't know about the availability of food and refreshments, so all players should bring something to eat and plenty of water/sports drinks for the day. There will be a scheduled break in training for players to eat and rehydrate (although plenty of breaks for water will be provided throughout the day).

Next Wales u19s training will be on Sunday 20th March 2011 from 10.30am – 4pm in Cardiff.

Address as follows:
Welsh Institute Of Sport,
Sophia Gardens,
Cardiff
CF11 9SW

This session will be on ASTROTURF but please bring footwear for GRASS as well. You’ll also need either a reversible vest top with a white/dark side OR two training jerseys, one white and one dark.

Please come along even if you weren't able to attend the first session but are keen to join the squad - I'd appreciate it if you can PM me to give us an idea of numbers.

Cost
The cost for this session is £5 per player.

All players need to affiliate to the WLA upon attending their first training session - cost £20/£15 for seniors/students. This includes the £5 session cost.

Cheers
Will
