Glasgow Lions B vs Glasgow Uni

6-5

A close game with Uni giving the Lions a massive fright by pulling level to 5-5 in the last quarter.

First time we had enough bods to field the B team in full (a thrashing vs Edinburgh City in week 2 not really counting and Stirling in week 3 being a general shambles - although Stirling looked pretty good with some key players missing). Great experience for the newbies and a little bit of experimentation with long poles.

Two games vs Aberdeen Uni and Aberdeen City this coming weekend with 25 guys ready to play! B's will get their second outing.

Did the Lions 'A' team play at the weekend?

No they didn't.

Due to the fixture re-jig to accommodate the refereeing course Glasgow A vs Stirling was rescheduled (think it helped out Stirling who are on mid-semester break too). Bit of a shame really.

Turns out that Aberdeen City can't get a team together for the coming weekend so it's only a B fixture that will happen on Saturday again, with us having 24 guys too! But it will be great experience for quite a few of the newer players plus those of us who haven't trained in a while, (Al!) are on the injury comeback trail (me!) or are trying to dislodge the incumbent in the A team (Dylan!). The B team is doing exactly what it should be doing (when we can get the players together) and that is giving at least 10 guys 60-80 minutes lacrosse rather than watching a game from the bench. It also allow's us to try a player in a different position without causing issues to the A team's pursuit of glory. Not sure of the experimentation this weekend coming though since we should have a full compliment of Long poles available for the first time this season. Attack will be interesting though!

Ah, of course. All makes sense.

Heard that Abderdeen City lost to St Andrews someething like 3-12 at the weekend (I was refereeing St Andrews in a BUCS game today).

I hears it was an enjoyable game at St. Andrews. Aberdeen did well. It would be great if St Andrea could entice some new players to the game rather than relying on imports but without an inside knowledge of how they run the club one can't judge really. They have some superb players by all accounts and are having an impact in the league. Some good guys down there like Pete, Shen and Goose.

We've got a drop in session at Strathclyde tonight which is last minute, unplanned and generally a nightmare scenario but hopefully we can entice a few lads down to the club. Be great if a team could start there in a couple of years, but we need the support of the AU which has been lacking thus far.

Development at a school level hasn't happened yet though which I'm disappointed about. But one step at a time, we've only been going a year!
