Prague Cup

Postby Bruce Mon Apr 22, 2013 12:02 pm

Hi all,

I'm posting on here for the first time, despite watching from afar for years.

UCL Lacrosse and ULU Mens Lacrosse are taking 65 people and 3 teams for 8 days to play in the Prague Cup (13th-16th June). We hope not to get absolutely destroyed.

Because there are spaces to be filled and flights are still reasonable with Wizzair and Easyjet, and Eurolines have coach tickets available for £79 return. I've contacted the hostel and the other operators who we've booked with who are willing to share their details and offers so that others can join us for a decent price.

The tournament team entry costs 25000 CZK (£826) for a Ladies team and 30000 (£921) CZK for a Mens team, this includes:
Two games per day at least for Mens/Womens teams
One game at least for mixed team
First aid on the field
Ice and water for games
Steam Boat Party down the Vltava.
BBQ
Beach Volleyball tournament
Tournament Pub Crawl

The tournament organisers have offered us this package deal (which we have declined) for 682.5 CZK (£22.56) per person per night
Accommodation at Charles square hostel http://www.hostel-vysehradska.cz
(close to city center and easy to get to the fields)
Bus to the airport and back
Every day bus to the field and back during tournament
Liason for entire week for free
Czech mobile connection for contacting liason or event organiser
Prague guided trip
Czech lacrosse present

We have instead opted for hostel accommodation at St. Christophers Mosaic House for 450 CZK (£14.86) per person per night http://www.st-christophers.co.uk/prague-hostels

We're getting the month long 670 CZK tram pass each to cover our transport for the 8 days (so that players can roll out of bed anytime rather than having to wake up at 8am for a coach, only then to just sit around for ages feeling tender). But if you wanted to stay for less you can get 2 3-day tourist tickets for 310 CZK

We're getting transported by https://www.prague-airport-transfers.co.uk/ for £2.80 per person each way on their coaches. Alone their 8 person Mini bus costs 780 CZK (£25.76) each way, so it's still a bargain.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that if a team of 15 came out for 5 nights (12th-16th) the budget breakdown each could be:

Team - (30000/15) = 2000
Accommodation - (450*5) = 2250
Tram tickets - (2*310) = 610
Airport Transfer ((2*2*780)/15) = 208
Total = 5068 CZK (£167) each

Hope all this perks up a bit of interest.

Good luck to all the box players this weekend too.
