Spencer Two's 10 v Imperial 0, match conceded

Spencer Three's v. Northampton, postponed and I think to be rearranged

This means a Spencer Two's v Spencer Three's showdown, Saturday 21st Feb, 2pm.

i believe 'sacking off' is the technical term.

Some philistines use the phrase 'walkover' but they are sadly mistaken. Duffy, some cracking games on in the Diff this weekend - Penarth v Quins A (FO12pm in Penarth) in W2 and Quins v croydon in Flags(FO 2pm ish in Cardiff). Plenty for your saturday afternoon fix!

Aberystwyth Sackers

Postby FenderSi Fri Feb 20, 2009 7:01 pm

Just to confirm to people that Aber are certainly not 'Sacking it off'!
I could give the predictable speech of 'small club, lack of support, non-sports uni etc' but this is quite simply not the case here.
We have not been given any minibus access this year which is fair enough, but it poses a problem to us in that transport links are effectively non-existent...

I text you asking to rearrange and even suggested a quasi-tournament event in which we could play a set of league fixtures on the same day, helping not only us, but also you and to ensure the completion of the league. At the end of the day, we were looking for an alternative and UWIC have been the ones who turned that down...

I think most of the lax world knows how much we crave games...so to say we are sacking one off is just ridiculous!

I think Duffy didnt mean the whole slackers thing seriously.. i believe hes just generally pissed off because to be honest so am I and probably alot of the UWIC boys as we havent been able to play a game since 6th Decemeber and had our first training session since probs November last tuesday..

I also think only reason Duffy decided to take the points instead of tryin to rearrange is because we already have games to rearrange with Cheltenham2, Bath2 and Cardiff Harlequins 'A', so looking at free weekends and fact our AU don't let us play on our field if it rains even a little bit it would have probably ended up in us taking the points later anyway

How many at Aber drive as you could have gotten 2 people to drive.. 2 cars equals 10 players.. UWIC had to do the same when we travelled to bath as we didnt have the minibus that weekend so turned up with 10 players cramped into 2 cars
also isnt there a train station?

not passing judgement either way but as an ex aber, the trains are rubbish in and out of that town when i was there we had to load up a train at 5.35am to get to a Loughbrough game. I dont recommend trying to motivate student to get up for that its hard enough getting em out of bed for 11am  UWIC thats terrible! is it a shared pitch or just twitchy grounds staff?

Can confirm

Bath 9 -8 Cheltenham Cougars

Good game - I think the better team won on the day, Bath held the ball well, created some good chances with Pingu making some great saves. Cheltenham didn't threaten too much 6v6 but on the man down were strong, scoring something like 4 or 5 on man up plays. Some Bath indisicipline was to blame for these. With a few minutes to go Cheltenham scored to bring it back to 1 goal in it but Bath managed to secure possesion and hold onto the ball until the end for a great win. Sets us up for the league nicely, just have to keep our heads and keep on grinding out good results.

Exeter 2 Portsmouth 11

Good game, pompey looked strong all over the pitch and exeter were a bit short of ideas in front of goal at times. Saying that both teams hit the goal frame a number of times, and both keepers had very good matches.

Exeter thoroughly enjoyed this match on an excellent lacrosse playing afternoon.

Harlequins 19-4 Croydon

What a game. As tough a test as we've had this year, we couldnt and didnt ease up for a second. score was 7-4 at halftime, and really anybody's game but Quins found another couple of gears in the third (13-4) and wrapped things up in the fourth. Croydon were everything you'd expect from East 1 leaders, but the Cardiff midfield was just too strong - Uggy played brilliantly, deserved man of the match - and the second half shutout (D was NASTY) meant the attack could play without fear. a cracking performance from the boyos, really proud of us today.

Looking forward to Bath in the final now - should be yet another humdinger between us two.

WOOOO! FLAG FINAL! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAA BUUUUDDDY! :D
Frickin excellent game, Croydon played with a lot of passion, and a sterling performance by our D and Grindle kept them at bay.
Really fun game to play.
Damn Dave Arnet is hard to stop when he gets up to speed, arm is killing me.
Appologies if came across cocky, wasnt meant to, just really enjoying the game :)
