London pitch for 6th April

Postby Jon_B Mon Mar 18, 2013 3:48 pm

Croydon are due to play Reading 2 on the 6th of April but can't use our home pitch due to pre cricket season maintenance work.

If anyone has a central / greater london pitch we are able to use please let me know.
I've already emailed a few of the central london teams but suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

Why not try and book Hampstead's Westway Stadium?

It's a great surface to play on and it would be ideal for Reading.

Hampstead play Spencer that day, at 1.30pm, but you might be able to get a prior or later booking?

You'll also get a Referee(s) who should be okay doing two games.

Watching the Premiership game would be worthwhile too.

Just a thought.........

Not a bad suggestion Simon, I did contact Dennis at Hampstead, who kindly replied immediately and in great detail outlining there was a home fixture and cost of pitch hire. My concerns were Reading getting to central London for 10.30ish! He explained that Westway was perhaps the most expensive ground in the South to hire so it's a question of how we meet that cost. Croydon can't as we've had a big year, sinking alot of club cash into work at the Bromley Cricket Club (new turf and changing rooms etc.) Perhaps I should investigate exactly what it would be and discuss with Reading. Appreciate the reply and good points raised.

For a fifteen man squad it will probably be £7 a head.

I'll waive my match fee to help out.

Is 10.30am the only time available?

Cheers Simon, thats good of you to offer. I've requested a quote from their admin team, providing the cost is not too high and Reading agree of course it seems like a sensible choice.
We would have to do an early face as Hampstead are booked to face at 1.30pm

Yes, but unfortunately Purley can't help on this occasion.
No word from Westway booking team still, but Hillcroft's 3g is avail. at 11am.
Waiting to hear back from Reading.

We have secured Hillcroft's 3g pitch for an early face (11am) before they play their later games.
Thanks for the offer of service Simon but I assume that would be cutting it to fine for you with your commitment over at Hampstead.

We have spoken to our home referee John and also proposed a dual ref arrangement with Hillcroft (they do our game, we'll do theirs!) but if there are any ref's who would like to officiate an early one on lovely 3g please get in touch.
