I'll be doing the organisation for the day, the start time and number/length of games will depend on the number of counties entering.
We'll have two pitches available
Currently expect a 11 or 12 noon start going through to 5pm

All,

The text of the letter from Peter Mundy reads:

Dear Club Secretary,

COUNTY LACROSSE IN THE SOUTH

With reference to my letter dated 12th January 2012 giving the details for the Southern County Lacrosse Tournament to be held in Reading on Saturday 31st March next at 10.30 a.m., I write to ask you for a progress report bearing in mind that there is only a little more than a month to go before the Tournament is due to take place.

Please could you send an e-mail to our SEMLA Secretary, Michael Chennell confirming that you are in touch with the various Clubs comprising your designated County (as shown in the attached list) and that elements of each of those Clubs will be taking part in the event so that we can start getting the draw together.

Michael's e-mail address is semlasecretary@googlemail.com

Your assistance in organising your County team is much appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Mundy

For and on behalf of SEMLA

Who's organising each county, is there a rep from one of the teams? Plus are you eligable to play for the county you were born in?

Since there are no County Associations the choice of team manager for each county is left to the group of clubs allocated into the county.

Basically the first person willing to take the role (who can convince the others to accept his leadership) will organise the selection.

Rules for eligibility are basically that you play for the county where you play your SEMLA lacrosse as this is intended to allow the local teams to train together more easily.
If it was on county of birth, we'd be back to people travelling all over, or more likley, not bothering.

The whole County thing is evolving, part of the plan is that it will, hopefully, eventually lead to the re-formation of County Associations within SEMLA, so that more people can contribute more to their local clubs' development.

Clearly until we have enough clubs in each county we'll have to make compromises by merging several clubs together

Makes sense and sound sensible (always good to hear in the Lacrosse world!)

What if i don't think i'm good enough to play for the county i currently play in but might get on the subs bench for my county of birth if they are short of numbers

So far as I know, Hertfordshire is being organised by Jon Mills (Hitchin Cpt) & Dan Reid (Welwyn Cpt)

I think teams are getting to gether for a scrimmage and players will be selected on the day - not sure when the scrimmage will be.

Changes to the teams comprising the Counties agreed tonight at the SEMLA GCM

Avon will now be called Wessex and include Bristol L.C., Bath L.C., Bristol Bombers, West of England University. Gloucester University, Cheltenham University.

Berkshire and Oxfordshire will be known as Thames Valley and comprise of Reading and Oxford Uni.

This is mostly because Bristol Bombers are not able to take part in the County Tournament and so adjacent teams have been moved to allow Wessex to be able to raise a team.

Northamptonshire will now be renamed West Midlands

Still no entries from Wessex, Devon, Hampshire and Surrey

Just looking for a reason to let them down gently...

'You aren't allowed' is so much more pleasant than 'you aren't good enough'!

The LDO question wasn't raised last year as the tournament was held long after they had all gone home.
I see no reason why they can't play, they are active members of the Clubs and therefore the County.

On the referee question, Steve Jarvis is organising the referees who will be paid the normal daily rate by SEMLA

If a Wessex team does materialise then I'm sure I can convince a few of the other Cheltenham/Gloucester players to join.

Always happy to make up the numbers :D
