Scotland Men's U-19s

Postby GlyndwrLax1404 Wed Jun 29, 2011 2:13 pm

Ahead of the Under-19 World Championships in 2012, being held in Turku, Finland, Lacrosse Scotland is looking for players who are keen on representing this great country. There are open trials on August 6th & 7th August 2011, in Edinburgh. If you can’t make this, don’t worry, get in touch anyway and we can make arrangements!

We are keen to have players who are committed to developing themselves and Scottish lacrosse. Previous experience/ level of ability is irrelevant. A desire to work hard, have fun and be part of team are must haves.

Scotland has an exemption for players over 19 (up to 21 years old). However, you need to be playing in Scotland for this exemption to apply. If you are moving to Scotland for University this autumn please get in as you may well be eligible.

The eligibility criteria are detailed below.

If you think that you are eligible please get in touch with Keith Robertson, Head of Men’s Performance at mensperformance [at] lacrossescotland [dot] com or pm me for more details.

Criteria:
A) Born in Scotland.
B) Ordinarily resident in Scotland for not less than one year prior to the date of the match.
C) Ordinarily resident in Scotland for any period of not less than five years.
D) One or both parents born in Scotland.
G) Play for a Scottish club (U21 only).
H) Live in Scotland currently, includes school and university (U21 & Juniors/U19s only)

Lower Age
The lower limit age that applies to all World Championships and ILF sanctioned events is 16 years of age as of the day prior to Championship commencement. Consequently with the 2012 Championships starting on July 9th then players must be born on or prior to 8th July 1996

Upper Age
The upper age limit is that all players must be under 19 as at 31st August of the year before the Championships take place. For 2012 this means that players must be born after 31st August 1992 (stretched back to July 3rd 1992 to cover the “age trap” reflecting differing start dates of events).
N.B. Although Scotland has applied for an age dispensation (up to 21), you need to be a British Passport holder and reside in Scotland for a year prior to the tournament.

Apologies for repeated posting!

Hi there,
I am interested in attending but am not sure if I can make the dates as I might be away. I have tried to email you but I'm not sure if you got it as my account seems to be playing up. Is it a problem if I cannot make the trials?
Many Thanks

My apologies but there is supposed to be a dot between mens and performance in the contact email address above. Silly error!

Sorry if you've tried to contact but not been able to!
