Birmingham beat Exeter to get promoted to West 1 next year, I'm still waiting on the score though.

Re: Results 26/3/11
Quite a few permutations which I think are:
If Epsom lose to Maidstone - Epsom down.
Epsom draw with Maidstone - 3 teams on 27 points are Spencer 3, Epsom and Northampton
> Both Northampton and Spencer have beaten Epsom, so Epsom would be relegated.
Maidstone lose to Epsom - 3 teams on 27 points, are Spencer 3, Maidstone and Northampton
> Both Spencer 3 and Maidstone have winning records against Northampton. So Northampton would be relegated. (The match conceded by Northampton to Spencer would relegate them because they didn't get 1 point for the match and it makes the head to head record 11-10 to Spencer)
So I think Spencer 3 are safe, and Maidstone are safe as long they fulfil their games.
However, if Maidstone conceded to Welwyn then we could end up with 4 teams on 27 points but I haven't worked this out.
Shout if you think I've missed anything.

Re: Results 26/3/11
On the Northampton vs. London match..
Really hard fought match from both sides, nothing given and some really big hits put in, a few of which I was on the receiving end of... with a really tense last 10 minutes, the score potentially going either way.
How come there isn't a playoff system between whoever finishes 2nd from bottom in E1 or E2, against those who finish 2nd from top in E2 or E3? Just wondered if anyone thought the same thing.

Re: Results 26/3/11
In hindsight there probably should have been! The rule was made to help teams deserving promotion get promoted quicker and not lose players from years languishing down.
The rule was however passed with the knowledge that there were generally ten teams per division. Unfortunately the numbers didn't quite work out this year and the divisions were at minimum size mathematically. (there are 22 teams in east 1-3 and more than ten teams in a division is viewed as too many, and so two 8s and a 6 were the best structure available).
Unfortunately the rule wasn't adjusted in view of low league numbers (nobody's fault I should add) and as such a disproportionate amount of each league theoretically changes this year. 50% of east 2 will be playing in a different league next year and nearly 3/4s of east one and east 2 could still have been relegated with a couple of weeks to go which probably indicates the proportion was too high going up and down this year. However you can't change the promotion and relegation rules mid season as it's not fair! Unfortunately this has meant that teams like buckhust hill who are actually rather strong (and I suspect stronger than whoever finishes 2nd in east 2) have gone down, similarly a relative big gun in east 2 may well go down! Hopefully when the leagues reach full strength the ratio will be better and the impacts less dramatic and there will be no need to change it! Otherwise the play off system you suggest may become a viable alternative!

Re: Results 26/3/11
Spencer 3 vs Welwyn 2. Great game to play in a very slow start from us combined with Spencer pushing us hard the whole game made for a close fought contest. Spencer were ahead most of the game and I think it was 11-8 to Spencer going into the final quarter. welwyn dug deep though and managed to pull it back to the final score of 12-14.
On a separate note massive thanks to Pete and the other Spencer guy who reffed, the best most consistent refereeing I've seen In a long time certainly best this year.
All in all a pretty good days lax.
