Then drive up north and watch The flags in roachdale on the sunday
League restructure I told you so 10/3/2011(looking good on this one)
Prem division to two leagues will result in the prem division failing and being combined with Nemla 22/3/2012
the proposed restructure to 8 teams in each prem league will only last a couple of years until it has to be restructured again due to teams dropping out. 13/12/2012

I wonder how much pleasure you got from writing those words Mr Rogers?
*Corrected the spelling of Mr Rogers name, how rude of me.

Certainly not what I would have expected to be writing after the first three games of the season!
Of course getting both teams into finals is pretty amazing.

Interesting to note that 3 out of the 4 Plate semi-finals were forfeited wins - even the prospect of silverware and a grand day out at the Flags Finals couldnt persuade teams to travel and play (although i doubt this was the problem between Welwyn 2 v Welwyn 3!). does this suggest the experiment of the Plate has failed?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight...

Aye - £50 320mile round trip to play in something with all the equivalent prestige of the Auto Windscreens trophy.
It was a nice idea but without a compelling prize, it's nothing more than a nice day out, if you live close enough.
Although, take my opinion with a pinch of salt as feel the same about the intermediate flags

I've enjoyed the plate competition, been good to play teams from outside the division and helps to fill up the weekends and we played our quarter final and semi!
First years for many of these things can be ropey, but i imagine it will gain more momentum next year. Whilst if we win I won't be booking an open top bus tour of the city to celebrate it, its always nice to win things even if its not the elite competitions, and its more lax!

I would hope that all the referees would not be associated with the teams involved in the finals.
Although for the Senior final it does rule out, Rob Collinge, Henry Collinge, Dan Wright, Amit Biswas, Tom Slade, Steve Jarvis and Trevor Rogers (and probably Ian Ballantine who is still a blues VP).

Manc lad's comment was of course in jest, the refs for all finals will, as always, be completely unconnected to the teams that they are reffing.
Although as pointed out Reading/Blues does rule out a lot of the Panel referee pool

That explains how they both got in the finals

The final of the World Championships in Manchester in 2010 was between Team USA and Team Canada
HR was "neutral" - he was Australian if memory serves
R1 and R2 were from USA and Canada
CBO was "neutral" from England (again, if memory serves)
Bench Manager was "neutral" - another Aussie I think
So no-one is being ruled out at this stage, except if they've told me they are not available, or have asked to not ref a particular game (so they can watch it instead).
There will be a huge game of rock-paper-scissors at 10.30am on the Saturday between all the Panel Refs to determine assignments.
(or not).

Re: SEMLA Flags Finals 2011
I'm quite surpised at Hillcroft A getting to the final, but then after looking at there fixtures i can understand as on all flags game they played there 1st team didn't have a game. I'm not saying they have cheated or anything, it's just strange how there have beaten teams such as London Uni (2nd in east 2) and Birmingham Bulls (3rd in west 2, but played less and score a shed load of goals).

That made me laugh. That was a joke right? Hillcroft A may be in East 3 because they are a new team but their results show that they are a better standard than that. Hillcroft have no reason to stack the A team and I'm sure they wouldn't.
