South London Lacrosse

Postby LacrosseLad Mon May 17, 2010 10:35 pm

Hi all,
I'm a lacrosse newcomer and was wondering if there were any lacrosse clubs close to me in south east London that accept beginners?
Cheers

If you are new to the game I suggest that the best clubs to approach in south London are Spencer or the Blues. Both of these clubs have 3rd teams that play in east 2 and thus would welcome newcomers. Most of the other teams in South London are clubs with a single Prem or East 1 team where you may not get any game time.

We at the Blues hope to be running some beginner training sessions for adults new to the game come September/October when the season starts again.

I've travelled from South East London to Spencer for the last few seasons. They readily accept all comers of all levels, and with 3 teams all get a game. Summer training should start July. Visit http://www.spencerlax.com for info and contact details.

I've been training with East Grinstead in my holidays and found them to be brilliant. They're not as big as maybe blues or spencer but that might be an advantage. Their standard ranges a lot from almost beginner to some of the best players in the prem but whitey always manages to make training useful for everyone. Also a great bunch of guys who'll make you feel really welcome and will be willing to stick around after training to give you pointers or tuition.

Croydon havn't played in Croydon proper for a number of years, our home ground is in Bromley ( on SE London / North Kent Border).
We're eaisily accessible for SE london by car and public transport.
http://www.southlacrosse.org.uk/clubs/croydon.html
Our old ground now makes up part of the tram line and our present club has far better facilities. The name was agreed to be kept to maintain identity in the lacrosse world, given the club's history.

We train every monday night 7pm onwards at Poverest Park, Orpington.
Any new players would be welcome along at sessions, we have a number of new players who train with the club.
Please drop me a message if you're interested.

Although Spencer's south west its got good transport links and will take on new players, there's 3 teams so your guaranteed game time. Check out spencerlax.com

Are you playing games or is it a throw around?

Cheers

There should be training this Tuesday, just going through a few drills with a relaxed game at the end then off to the Windmill for a quick drink with Clapham ladies

Is the training on Tuesday evenings open to everyone or just Hillcroft/Spencer?
