Play Off Games

Postby GANDALF Wed Mar 31, 2010 10:34 am

When and where is the Prem survival play off game scheduled for? I want to make sure I'm there to watch it and support EG. Those boys have worked hard this season and deserve to stay up.

Actually, all of the play off games Cardiff etc.

I believe it is:

3pm April 10th: Cambridge Uni vs Cardiff Harlequins

April 24th: Loser of play off vs East Grinstead

Both at Reading LC.

Giles 6s are on the 24th as well so a decision will have to be made there which you attend!

Move the Play-off game to the 6s location and schedule it over the lunch break of the tournie, then you'll have loads of supporters and interested parties, a large supply of refs, and both teams can participate in the 6s if they're super keen.

My money is on nil. 6s usually take up all the Blues pitch space. Plus much nearer EG than Cambridge or Cardiff.

Edit: By money I mean hypothetically, just in case :)

I would not say nil but probably slim. If SEMLA want me to have a look at this then get in touch and I'll talk to our grounds people. It could be that we can get one of the Bluesfest pitches out the back marked up or something like that.

I'm with Giles on this I would like see this game as well.

I think it would be a great show case event and it's not often that teams get to play with a big crowd about them. Would be a great experience. Might also help put the "East V West, Who's The Best?" argument in perspective as it will allow people to see both for once rather than the majority of people experiencing just their league.

Chances are that it will be two east teams I think Cardiff are heavy favourites to beat Cambridge on the 10th.

No pressure, but could you also keep the crowd back, build a gantry, and video the game for posterity.

I'm going to miss it.

Cardiff would be a bit of a nightmare match for a ninth place team!

I think grinstead will be supporting cardiff against cambridge anyway!

I'll be firmly supporting Cardiff in their play-off, but only because they are a good club and would be an asset to the Premier Division.

They might be favourites, but I would not be surprised if Cambridge have quite a decent side out on that day.

Not a fan of this favourite chat.
Quins have been a perennial example of over promise and under deliver, not being able to find good form in the critical match. We also have a well documented lack of games this season, will that affect us? Trust me we’re not taking this match for granted and we certainly don't see ourselves as favourites, from my reading it appears Cambridge have some very talented and experienced players on their roster. I can’t wait.

Lets face the facts you beat brighton 20-2, portsmouth lost in over time with cambridge and Bristol beat them. Not saying cambridge can't do it, but there is no denying the favourites tag!

Still can't understand this result. Did Brighton turn up late or light?

Cambridge find a way to overcome problems and will adjust/react as a game develops.

Quins played very well in horrible conditions. I dont believe that Brighton were light? I may be wrong?

I carnt wait for the Cambridge game... could be a close one?

Why oh why did I have to break my wrist at the most crucial time of the season! Miss flags, playoffs, and two varsity matches! Dammit!
