Bath 8's parking

Postby Simmo Fri Aug 28, 2009 1:14 pm

Anyone know where's best to park at Bath 8's?

Or is parking in bath way too much of a hassle?

For those staying over, can we leave cars at the Rec overnight or will they get ticketed?

Last year myself and a couple others parked at an underground carpark near the Huntsman. I think it was next to the police station? If I remember rightly, the cost wasn't extortionate, but other than that, parking was limited.

Mini bus could probably be parked up at the uni, might be worth asking them? Parking at the uni is £1 for Saturday and free for Sunday, with a bus (418 or 18) running into town, which drops off right next to the Rec...

There is a car park opposite the YMCA but has to be vacated for a market in the morning, however you can drive down to the rec and park and then walk back to the YMCA if needs be. only 10 min walk if my memory serves me!

I would be very surprised if any of the Sheffield boys are able to drive in the mornings!

If my very hazy memory is correct, it is slightly downhill from the YMCA to the rec, so that might work!

Yeah that was my recollection too. I also don't remember parking at the rec on the day being that much of an issue, although saying that I can't remember what time I rocked up last time so thats no use to anyone.

I'll get me coat.....

I'm driving down on the Saturday morning and could do with some local knowledge on parking spaces.

I know how to get to the Rec, but if it's full does anyone have any roads they know of nearby that are cheap/free to park on.

Don't think Park and Ride is going to be an option as we're gonna have to set off at 6:45 to get there.

I don't think there is anywhere in Bath thats Cheap/Free to park. Might have to take a hefty parking fee in the chin Flora!

You can park on the University (Claverton Down - BA2 7AY) parking lots on Saturdays for £1 and then Sunday is free.

Buses 418 and 18 will both go from campus down into town at the following times and will get you into town in 15 minutes:

University of Bath, Bus Stand 0741 0756 0811 0826 0841 0856 0911 0926 0941 0956

and then buses leave at 11 26 41 and 56 minutes past each hour

Failing that you can get a taxi into town:

I used to live in Carlton road, about a 15 min walk from the Rec, free parking up that part of town. It's where I plan to leave my car over night.

Cheers for the suggestions, we may be in time to drop the car off at the Uni then. The chin can take a 1 pound + bus ride fee!!
