Goals per game is less now in UK than it used to be but this isn't really a result of stalling IMO

12 goals used to be seen as a Par score but now the GPG is just over 8

- Defensive coaching has improved and offensive coaching has not kept up

- slippage on rules, more is allowed wrt slashing & cross checks

- technology, long poles a lot easier to use (lighter), offset and deep pockets has impacted passing game.

- cultural generational changes, a lot of kids want to be defenders rather than goal scorers

- other unknown factors

I think the ultimate problem is the ball retention. So many hard, clean checks go completely unrewarded because they fail to dislodge the ball. Make the stick heads wider and you'll start to see take-away defenders shine again.

Is that not what they started this season in the ncaa? and it dosent seem to of really done much imo.

..... and Warrior got damned for trying to tell the NCAA exactly that when they proposed the new rules!

A shot clock will do nothing to speed up the game.

Assume a 60 second shot clock. What is to stop a team from stalling for 58 seconds, taking a possession shot (but close enough to make it seem legit), backing the shot up, stalling for 58 more seconds, and repeating? How is this any different from the stalling game that is becoming the norm at D1 level?

Today's final saw Virginia given a stalling warning at roughly 5:15 to go in the 4th. At 3:40 they called time out when their player got in danger. In that time, they did not attempt the goal once. If that is not in violation of the stall warning, I dont know what is. Someone on this board already said it. The warning is toothless unless it is enforced. Refs need to be pushed into calling a delay if they do not see legitimate attempts on goal with XX seconds of the stall warning being made.

I'm a goalie and even I'm saying there should be more offence in lacrosse. A 6-5 game could be exciting if it highlights a great defensive stand on each end. But generally, its not because of good defence that we have low score lines. Lacrosse is a more enjoyable sport when scores represent the quickened pace and when scores hover around the 10 mark.

IMO The big problem with NCAA lacrosse now is that it's a business.

People's (coaches') jobs and scholarships are on the line if they lose. Therefore the first priority is not to lose, second is to win.

This brings with it a low(er) risk offence: no fast break, get the right men on the field attitude.

The same also encourages a conservative defence - stay tight, slide early, soft zones and an end to dominating take away D men and two way middies. Meaning fewer turnovers and even fewer fast breaks.

This is the most entertaining game I've ever watched. As far as I can tell it all comes down to equipment technology. If you want entertainment you need helmets that are fixed together with shoe laces, and jerseys that barely cover the belly button.

You and me both

Johns Hopkins have a private TV Contract with WMAR/ABC2 a local Baltimore TV Channel to televise all Home games

ESPNU pick up the broadcast without having to pay for any of the Production costs, also Hopkins are the traditional power in lacrosse and have lots of Alumni in powerful positions throughout USA, so probably have some pull with decision makers.

Times Warner pick up all Syracuse Home games but ESPNU don't pick up all of those for some reason.

As well as above games a lot of games are available through University Webcasts.

CBS-CS is a subscription service that covers a number of teams' sites, and is well worth it if you want to watch a lot of games.
