such a shame....big lax stories of recent times...alleged rape and now a murder!

sounds like a relationship gone wrong, bad times for both UVA teams who are looking good for NCAA's!

This is a tragedy

A girl has lost her life in her prime and a man is accused of murder

This follows on from the death of another UVA player (suicide) in 2009

and the death of another girl and arrest of an OCC player in 2008

sad times

I am proud to call myself a citizen of the U. S. and while the murder rates in many of America's large cities has steadily gone down over the past couple of decades, the amount of violence we Americans continue to routinely inflict upon others is sad and embarassing.

I think I read in one of the news articles that he went to the same prep school as the guys at DUKE who got into trouble.

dislike the way the media do things like this, both incidents are totally separated but they dig to find any links to make a story!

Isnt that prep school a massive feeder club for alot of NCAA colleges? They probably share history with loads of players

The only way this is "duke all over again" is that it is bringing bad publicity to the sport.

Different crime in a different situation.
One player involved rather than a team.
University is keeping the programme in full swing.

I don't see how this could be linked to the same kind of social issues raised by the duke case, with the alleged actions of the students being linked to their celebrity status on campus.
The horrific actions that the Virginia student is alleged to have carried out, could have been carried out by any vile individual.

This is nothing to do with the Duke case or the sport of Lacrosse... Read the articles & the affadavits
http://www2.dailyprogress.com/cdp/news/ ... son/55731/

This is a tragedy of two very talented well educated individuals who had everything in life to look forward to.

Now one is dead and the other is facing 1st degree murder charges and is in jail.

This is as much to do with lacrosse as it is to do with the University of Virginia or the student area of Charlottesville where they both lived.

Alcohol is more relevant to this tragedy than lacrosse :(

I suppose one possible way it could be Duke all over again would be if the DA were running for re-election?
