Season 2013/14

Postby orange05 Tue Aug 27, 2013 5:18 pm

Anyone know what's happening with Stopfordians and Mersey Guild this season? They're not listed in the Prem leagues, but buried in North 3 are 'Norbury Stops' and 'Wacs Guild'

Just seen this post after commenting on the other!

Well unless Norbury are going to integrate the Stops players, I see it as Stops going from Prem 2 to North 3 and picking up the odd Norbury player to fill any gaps on the field or bench? Thus most likely resulting in very one sided games?

AIUI - HMG were struggling last year with numbers and the travel. For the new season the practical solution (hopefully just short term) is to form a new team made up from HMG with additions from WACS and possibly MMU as needed and play in North 3.

As far as I knew

Norbury Stops was going into North 2 and playing at Disley
The old Norbury A was going to become Norbury B in North 3 playing at Norbury

This would mean the teams wouldn't be so one sided, with a longer term view that the better Stops players would actually play Norbury 1st, then some in Norbury A then some in Norbury B, giving Norbury 3 teams.

So the games shouldn't be inblanced really, though Norbury Stops in North 2 should be one of the strongest teams and Norbury B in North 3 should also be one of the strongest teams.

So they are currently Stops players, playing on Stops' ground, but they are NOT Stops?

A canny way to stay inside the M60

any chance of a Norbury Liverpool team next year??

Not enough players at Stops anymore, so the club has basically merged into Norbury.

If you look at Stops conceeded games last year, they were actually mostly within the M60, the away games at Leeds/ Newcastle etc were played. Numbers problem as oppose to travel problem.

Quick Geography lesson - Stops (Disley) is 7 miles outside the M60; but don't let that ruin your narrative.
