On Saturday 11th May the 2013 Yorkshire Shield took place at Leeds LC, Adel Sports Club.
The event is for Yorkshire clubs not involved in the Yorkshire Cup. Following a competitive preliminary stage, Nottingham & Leeds emerged victorious from their groups and met in the final. Leeds went into it as reigning champions and Nottingham were looking to add the Yorkshire Shield to the NEMLA Premier 3 & Lancashire Cup titles they won in April. Leeds however retained their title winning 7-4.
The final standings were:
Champions: Leeds
Runner-Up: Nottingham
3rd: Sheffield Steelers A/U19s
4th: Hull
5th: Newcastle
6th: Leeds Met B
7th: Leeds Met A
8th: Leeds University
Many thanks to Leeds LC for hosting the event and putting on a great BBQ to feed the players and spectators. Thanks to Graham Blyth and all the club referee's for officiating throughout the day.
