Any more news on this?

Who are the Coaches?

What is the Squad?

Will there be U16s & U19s at Cheshire County Level?

Is it only the BNCs that Cheshire Seniors will play or will there be a Challenge Match between Lancashire & Cheshire Seniors?

How about the last May Bank Holiday Weekend 2012 (Memorial Day weekend in USA)

Saturday May 26th 2012 (NCAA Div I Semi-FInals)
Sunday May 27th 2012 (NCAA Div II and Div III Finals)
Monday May 28th 2012 (NCAA Div I Final)

Suggested (possible) Venues : Cheadle Hulme Lacrosse Club or Norbury Lacrosse Club?

Trial/Selection will be held on Wednesday 25th April at Stockport lacrosse club, from 18.45 for a 19.00 prompt start.

There is a £5 registration fee as usual to cover costs of entry to the BNCs, balls etc

Please bring a reversible training bib or two coloured playing shirts.

If you wish to play in the Cheshire squad please be aware that : -

1. You need to be available for both days of the BNCs (we will consider players who can only make one day but only to fill gaps where we cannot find players for both days)
2. You will need to provide blue shorts
3. Players who are unable to attend on wednesday may be considered for the squad on payment of the registration fee and where spaces are available after consideration of those who trialed.
4. Those selected to play will be the core Cheshire Senior squad for the coming year including any further fixture V Lancs
5. Selection will be by player/coach committee.
6. Players from all Cheshire affiliated clubs/colleges or normally resident in the County if playing for a uni etc team are eligible to trial.

A reminder and a favour please.

The Cheshire Senior Trials are to be held at Stockport tomorrow night, details in previous posting.

I have been told that a few clubs have not let their players know (notable exceptions Norbury and Wilmslow who have encouraged attendance), so could forum readers pass the info on via facebook or text to anyone they feel may be interested.

Because of National squad commitments there is plenty of opportunity this year to get on the squad, and all player positions are open!

Thanks to the guys who trialed last night in the drizzle. And to the guys who provided genuine reasons for not turning out. I am really frustrated by the clubs who did not let their players know what was happening, but this is par for the course. Players will know by Sunday the squad and I will post on here after players informed.

Cheshire County Lacrosse Association (CCLA) has a proud tradition of playing superb lacrosse and being dominant at every age level.

I attended the Senior CCLA Trial at Cale Green, Stockport LC last night and was amazed by what I saw...

Clubs who fall under CCLA

Stockport
Cheadle
Wilmslow
Mellor
Poynton
Norbury
Cheadle Hulme
Old Stopfordians
Chester (?)

Cheshire have been the enemy for me my whole life from school days (Lancs) university (Yorks) work (South) and more recently (Lancs)

Where were all the players who should be striving to make the Senior County Team for the British National Championships?

How many turned up?

Was the standard not as you'd expect?

Add to the list, Cheadle and Marple College, Keele, Staffs and Birmingham. Liverpool is in Lancs.

I was made aware last night of Poynton and Mellor having training sessions and one or two players had let me know, but there was no notification from the clubs, and no other approaches from players who wished to be considered for selection from these clubs. There were also a number of players working, on holiday and playing in Uni games who asked to be considered, even so the turn out was disappointing. Half of those who turned out were U19s and in the session their lack of experience showed.

Anyway the coaches/captains will have to make their decision based on those who have signed up for selection.

I hadn't realised that Liverpool came under the Lancashire umbrella.
Who decided that?

Many parts of Merseyside are covered by a Cheshire postcode so I would have assumed they sat there!

I'd assume it's been done to follow the traditional Lancashire/Cheshire lacrosse boundary of the River Mersey.

Liverpool north of river = Lancs.

Chester south of river = Cheshire

I'm pretty sure it's done on ceremonial boundaries. Though if Staffs and Birmingham are now part of Chesire, and Lincoln and Newcastle part of Yorkshire, Lancs must be the smallest county in terms of area going by quite some distance!

It'd be a bit weird having Lancashire Cricket club and a Cheshire Lacrosse team on the same ground :|

I think the boundaries may at one time simply been drawn according to North or South of the Mersey. Then as clubs reduced it was done more pragmatically simply to keep it competitive.

Birmingham, Keel and Staffs came into the equation when they wanted to compete in NEMLA and also wanted their players to be considered for the the BNCs, so it was decided to add them to Cheshire until a Midland counties organisation could be formed. With the adoption of a Regional organisation these will probably move from Cheshire to that body if they wish.

In my view ideally the historical county boundaries should be restored and stuck to for any future County fixtures, but this will leave Lancs limited and Cheshire overloaded. Have your say via the NW Regional meeting at the BNCs
