Can someone please explain how the league restructure has failed?!?!?

If Chester make it to Hull in a weeks time then they will have travelled to all the games they would have had in Div 5. Newcastle & Hull, formerly if Div 5 have both beaten Oldham formerly of Div 3/4 (I cannot remember which), whilst Newcastle also achieved back-to-back wins over Liverpool formerly of Div 4. Leeds, formerly of Div 4 lost to York formerly of Div 5.

In the division above, Cheadle Hulme and Stops (both ex-Div4) have had decent seasons, whilst Notts & Ashton formerly of Div 2 & 3 respectively, have had poor seasons!

I don't see the restructure failing, I just see the standard of smaller clubs growing and that was the aim!

only as requested by trig
League restructure I told you so 10/3/2011(looking good on this one)
Prem division to two leagues will result in the prem division failing and being combined with Nemla 22/3/2012
the proposed restructure to 8 teams in each prem league will only last a couple of years until it has to be restructured again due to teams dropping out. 13/12/2012

or the divisons they play in are a worse standard.

oldham team is dramically weaker than it has been in previous years due to players moving from club.
Notts is very short of players

and I am sure it would be possible to go though the results and find lots of prosponed games and results that prove to opposite but have not had time.

Here you go -

33 games conceded throughout as far as the official tables go. I can remember when the only games that got conceded were D5 but even then C teams would try to play an 8-aside. The domination by the big 3, Stockport, Cheadle and Mersey is clearer now than ever it was -

P1 - Stockport, Cheadle & Mersey - only teams with +ve goal difference.
N1 - Stockport, Chaedle & Mersey A's - Brooklands A only other team with +ve goal difference.
N2 - Stockport, Cheadle & Mersey B's - oh B&E A break the trend for now, and another team Mellor B with a +ve goal difference.

Maybe this will change over the next few seasons, let's hope so?

In our experience, we have conceded just one, due to a car accident ruling out a regular driver. We have had one conceded in our favor, but York always concede when coming to us (still not bitter, honest)!

Chester have had issues, but I'm lead to believe this is more due to a huge initial interest, that then waned! They apper though to be up and running again now though!

Away from statistics, we now have 3 refs who are way more confident than ever before thanks to reffing with Panel Refs.

Notts have conceded a number, but they have openly stated that they believe this to be due to the rise of BUCS, not the restructure!!!

Working on the premise that the senior flags is the knockout competition for the best first teams in the league....

It makes sense to me that the junior flags would be for the "less senior" teams to compete for ie not other first teams.

That's my thinking/opinion disguised as a proper argument

I have to agree with some of what the pom is saying. Prem 2 this year in my opinion is not as strong as D2 was last year.

yes we are weaker, yes Ashton are weaker.

Losing Stockport, mersey and Cheadle has taken 3 top six teams out of the division.

I do think Norbury are stronger than last year and Poynton definatley are (as they have 3 players from Notts and a couple of other quality returners)

I personally am glad the restructure has happened as playing Stock Mersey or Cheadle this season with the team we have would have been horrible.

Must admit, I only ever keep an eye on the prem - how are the other leagues structured? I know this is off topic, so even just a link...

Oh, and as an old fart I'll always think of it as the flags.

Never happened in my day as captain...

I seem to remember heading over there before pre-season had even begun and claiming a 16-2 (or something along those lines) victory to York...

Stash and I realised that was the last time York came to Hull for a NEMLA game!

Cheers to the first 6 posts - good info and banter! The other 20 odd posts need to stop bitching and enjoy playing lax! Good luck tomorrow all
