New Center Draw?

I was playing as center at a school fixture and the umpire said they were trying a new way to set up the center draw by making sure that the ball was placed in the corners of the lax stick and set there? Is it going to be a permanent thing? Cause I find that it takes a long time for the umpires to set it and may eat into game time.
