A good stringing tutorial

Postby 04simohb Fri Jan 04, 2008 12:21 am

Hey,

Kinda stuck with my stick stringing. Does anyone know a good tutorial, looked on E-lacrosse but could only find a traditional pocket.

Cheers

http://www.kudda.com/clinic/How_to_stri ... osse_stick

Use this link and then on the right you will see a list of different parts of the head to string!

I don't really do it exactly the same as in the tutorial, but i think you'll get the basics from it anyway!

anyone know of any good goalie stringing guides?
I found a few, but they're not really traditional stringing styles, and that's what i want...

Is the sidewall basically the same as stringing a small head just different uses of shooting strings? Or do you need to do something different to get a decent pocket on it?

you can do it the same, but you're not going to get a decent pocket out of it.

The "Glove pocket" (AKA the Goalie Love pocket) is the goalie version of the Love pocket.
IMO this is the best pocket for goalies and I have yet to see anything that comes close to it. It allows for super deep pockets whilst retaining little whip and extreme hold.

If a local wants me to string one up I'll do a tutorial and start a tutorial section for you all.

To answer your question I wouldn't do the sidewalls the same as they could be prone to snapping. I double them up and then run a security string down too, so if one does snap the pocket will still perform without it.

I've not heard of the "Glove Pocket", but it sounds good. I'd be grateful for a tutorial!

Also, I found this tute which, although not for a goalie head, demonstrates the basics really well! http://www.lax.com/bimages/1471/1

the american forums (which we're not allowed to mention) have some pretty useful stringing tutorials. including the Glove pocket if i recall. and several goalie traditional pockets (ie with leathers) stretched over a bowling ball/metal rod rather than ball and knife

Strining Tutorials

You can find loads of good tutorials here:

http://www.lacrosseforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=65

For a goalie string job I've done this one slightly adapted to fit in a goalmaster head:

http://www.e-lacrosse.com/stech810.html

Not had chance to use it in game but just throwing around its pretty nice.

Glove pocket, not done it myself so no comments:

Im not after a stringing tutorial as such. Not a 'how to' one, but a 'why.' To me, there is not much point learning to string a stick without learning the theory behind it.

I play straight D, and use hard mesh strung by uklacrosse. I would love to be able to adjust it, teak it, mould it over my playing style, but none of the above tutorials (or other ones ive found) explain how this is done, what tweaks can be made, and what they achieve.

Is there a book or website out there that offers such information for the anal retentive?? :D

What would you want to tweak?

The shooters are probably the easiest to modify and will effect a whole range of things: whip, lip, release point, and even hold to some extent. The "why" here is basically to set the point of release and to make it gradual e.g. shooters more loose near the ball, and tighter near the scoop. If you make all the shooters tight most likely you will add whip -> the ball will fly more downwards like your toes instead of that clearing midfielder.

The easiest way to find out is by experimenting for yourself really. The best stringers out there learned by making mistakes.

Cheers,
Piotr

Anybody know of a good tutorial with pictures for how to string a Saddle into a trad stick? found loads on interlocking the crosslaces and everything else I need for a head I'm working on but not a single one on how to do this.
