honestly, the best advice i could give is to keep stringing and re-stringing until you get the arrangement you like. Try out different things, copy other people's sticks, check out for stringing tips and reader's custom jobs. having spent a few years fiddling with stringing, i can now string my stick in about 2 hours to be about as spot on as it can get before breaking it in with an hour or so of wall ball.

Here are two noobie guides to stringing:-

Everyone should learn how to string and in turn learn how your pocket affects/compliments your techniques.

I used to use swear by Traditional stringing because it held the ball sweet but always seemed to fall apart before a big game. now i just use soft mesh because you can use it in all weather and its easy to maintian.

do a lot of people still use traditional up north or is it mainly mesh?

i think that unless you play at the professional or national team level and are an attacker, mesh is fine, traditional is too much hard work!!

but whatever floats your boat!
