Good face off head

Postby jimbaw Wed Jun 15, 2011 11:39 am

hello guys i'm new to this forum.
I'm the face off specialist in my team and i'm looking for a new head because i play with a stx proton power and even though it is quite easy to face off with it, it is not the sturdiest head and i don't want to break it whilst facing off
could you please let me know what you guys use?
cheers

A PP is soft and it bends so it doesn't break. Just keep using your PP.

Depends how you like to face.

Some like a stiff head if they try and use power to over come the other player.

Others like flexible heads to allow for a pinch and pop style.

I say keep going with your PP. It's a decent mix of stiffness and flexibility.

i really like facing with my PP, but after a season of bending all the time, the head warped.

I randomly check this thread to see what the latest and greatest is:

General consensus is the Emperor and the Noz are two of the best for 2011.

Facing off destroys sticks you will be replacing heads twice a season.
League restructure I told you so 10/3/2011(looking good on this one)
Prem division to two leagues will result in the prem division failing and being combined with Nemla 22/3/2012
the proposed restructure to 8 teams in each prem league will only last a couple of years until it has to be restructured again due to teams dropping out. 13/12/2012

thanks a lot for all the replies
most of the time i'm quicker than the opponent so i don't have to use to much power on the head but as HawkUK mentioned it, the head tends to warp. it is really annoying because i'm really comfortable with the PP.
I guess i'm just going to have to deal with it.
thanks again for taking the time to reply

The Warrior Noz apparently holds its shape well after vigorous facing. It's apparently great for pinch and pop style facing, as it's flexible enough to allow you to plunger, but will pop back into shape.

Check with UK Lacrosse if they have any in stock as I know warrior are planning to discontinue the head.

Thought this was interesting - Kyle Harrison's new head, the Stallion, is due out later this year. It looks like it's designed as a do anything midfield head.

Interesting points are the new rail design to distribute stress, and the ability to flex on face offs but retain it's shape while shooting. There is a slow motion clip of Kyle shooting, and it doesn't look like the head warps in any way, but he is able to pinch and pop on a face off in another clip. Furthermore, they state that they flexed the head 100 times laterally, and there was no distortion to the shape of the head, something which one would expect from most other heads on the market. While they don't show this, it looks like it "springs" back to shape nicely in the video.

Could be a solid head for those midis who like to do everything, or even LSMs who like to face off. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Professor. However you may need 2 or 3 to last the season.

Too rigid and prone to breaking, as Dan says!

Good, that's the pros and cons of the torque fully discussed then...
