NHL standings while also scoring the second fewest goals

Postby elvafeng Thu Sep 14, 2017 7:35 am

The Vancouver Canucks have a set of fresh new faces at forward entering 2017 18. With a good mix of young players and veterans, we project the team’s top five scorers for the season.

After finishing 29th in the NHL standings while also scoring the second fewest goals, the Vancouver Canucks got busy in the offseason as they desperately try to fix their annually anemic offence.

General manager Jim Benning signed the skilled and versatile Sam Gagner , a perennial 20 goal scorer in Thomas Vanek plus puck moving defenceman Michael Del Zotto. They join a core that consists of three young standouts in Bo Horvat , Markus Granlund, Sven Baertschi and the Sedin twins.

Throw in other past 20 goal men in Brandon Sutter and Loui Eriksson, and you can expect the Canucks to score a little bit more in 2017 18. It’s going to be interesting to see how new head coach Travis Green builds the roster Ben Hutton Jersey, as the Canucks have a handful of players who are capable of scoring 20 plus goals.

The Canucks don’t quite have any superstars, however. So asking them to suddenly transform into a scoring juggernaut may be asking for too much. But you can easily expect more goals and less frustration in 2017 18. With that in mind, here are my projections for the Canucks top five scorers next season.
