Is anyone clear how the rankings work for promotion in the divisions?

Assuming that England do not make the same errors in organisational knowledge as 2010 on paper they should end up in 3rd or 4th place fighting it out with the Aussies. The Iroquois will be seeking to regain their Blue Division status and I can't see anyone who can stop them topping their division. So is promotion decided on play offs, simple position, or some other system?

"errors in organisational knowledge"?

What do you mean by this?

They were unclear at the time as to how the rankings worked and that impacted on their final position.

a couple of quick questions.

1. how did not knowing how the structure worked affect their placing surely it was just on results and they had a different position to what they expected.
2. can the Iroquois if they top their group get in to the finals? I can see play in games mentioned.

It is a shame that the Iroquois are not in the top division.
It drops the standard of the blue division.
Creates a number of uneven games in the next division.(not as good to watch)
League restructure I told you so 10/3/2011(looking good on this one)
Prem division to two leagues will result in the prem division failing and being combined with Nemla 22/3/2012
the proposed restructure to 8 teams in each prem league will only last a couple of years until it has to be restructured again due to teams dropping out. 13/12/2012

Correct pom. This is what I was coming to.

How would Management knowing how it all worked have changed England's final position?

Hi Pom

Yes, the Iroquois still have a route through to the final.

It won't necessarily mess up the numbers in other divisions - Blue will still be six teams, and below that will be a number of parallel divisions. How many groups, and how many teams in each is still up for grabs, depends on when they commit to going and pay deposits!

maybe i'm just a bit romantic about the roots of the game - I was gutted not to see the Iroquois in Manchester.

......or maybe a pessimist who assumes the powers that be would prefer the Iroquois to remain an exhibit rather than serious contenders.

Whether it's nostalgia or the standard they play at - both say to me that they should be in the top games.
I was once part of the winning Pop Lacrosse team that defeated Wigan in the 1992 Greater Manchester Youth Games.

So are the Iroquois unranked for not attending Manchester? Meaning they'll be seeded with other new teams like Guatemala and Costa Rica (if http://www.worldlacrosse2014.com/nations/index is to be believed).

This could be a slight ball ache if they ended up in the same group as some of the better lower division nations (scotland, Ireland, Netherlands, Wales etc) as a low ranked team. Those other teams can kiss their 1/2 place group finish goodbye.... although it would be fun... in a your my hero thanks for punching me in the face kind of way.

Just clocked this open letter to the FIL General Assembly on the main website. Seems incredibly harsh?

I thought technically anyone has a shot at the championship?

From an England perspective its better for them to be re-introduced into the Blue Division, then you know where you stand.

You have to win two group games and and a play-in game (against someone who is not the Iroquois) and your in the semi-finals.
