Yorkshire Squad 2012

Postby gazmanofhull Wed Jan 18, 2012 1:47 pm

Hi All,

The Yorkshire County Lacrosse Association is beginning preperations for the 2012 British National Championships to be held in May at Wilmslow Lacrosse Club. At present we have not appointed a Head Coach but will be doing so in the next fortnight. The first stage of selection will be a trial open to players from the following club and university sides:

Leeds Lacrosse Club, Hull Lacrosse Club, Lincoln City Lacrosse Club
Leeds University, Leeds Met University
Hull University, Lincoln University
York University
Nottingham University, Nottingham Trent University
Sheffield University (BUCS only), Sheffield Hallam University (BUCS only)
Durham University
Northumbria University
Newcastle University

It will also be open to players who live in Yorkshire or were born in Yorkshire but play for clubs/universities outside of the region.

The trial will take place on Sunday 4th March from 11am until 3pm at Leeds Lacrosse Club, Adel Sports Club, Church Lane, Adel, Leeds, LS16 8DE. We will be charging a £1 fee to trial to help cover costs.

From this trial a squad will be selected to play as the Yorkshire Presidents Select at the Yorkshire Cup on Sunday 18th March at Sheffield Steelers. The Yorkshire Cup will serve as the final trial to make the squad for the BNC's and will feature Sheffield Universities (NEMLA), Sheffield Steelers, Nottingham & Newcastle. Players from all 5 teams who wish to be considered will be trialling in a game situation throughout the tournament. A final squad of 23 will be selected from this event to train together and then compete at the 2012 British National Championships

For more information on the Trials and the Yorkshire Squad please PM me.

Guess individuals decide on priority! only one unis squad this year again so poss more competition for places there.

half of the places for the Yorks squad will prob be taken by Steeleres and Sheff uni players and Andy Whilde!

A strong English Uni's side would underline the growth in that area of the sport, maybe reawaked the Unis touring side? without the yorkshire uni players this side will be a lot weaker, but without the students yorkshire would stuggle to mount any kind of Challenge. Having played for yorkshire in the past it would good to see them complete with the big county's, however I'd like to see a full strength Students team with the best of the Big northern lacrosse uni's suplimented by the rest of the county (that team could win the BNC).
