Filling a wing

Postby Ekko Wed Jan 16, 2013 8:33 pm

I seem to remember sometime in the past reading a rule that allows the following situation.

Blue are man down as a goal is scored. as the players reset for a face, normally an attacker will fill one of the wings. If the clock runs out on the penalty with the wing full, the oncoming player needs to wait until possession is called before joining the field of play.

If Blue chose to leave the bench side wing free and the penalty expired before the whistle was blown to commence the face, the player on penalty can join the field of play for the face.

Can anyone tell me I'm either right or crazy.

Thanks.

This is correct. if the wing is full on the face and a player comes on before possession is called then it is the same as an attacker or defender stepping over the restrainer

can a team put two men on the same wing?
League restructure I told you so 10/3/2011(looking good on this one)
Prem division to two leagues will result in the prem division failing and being combined with Nemla 22/3/2012
the proposed restructure to 8 teams in each prem league will only last a couple of years until it has to be restructured again due to teams dropping out. 13/12/2012

what about - "can the wing-man run in from wing-line-extended. ie further down the field if the white markings are no longer there?"
I was once part of the winning Pop Lacrosse team that defeated Wigan in the 1992 Greater Manchester Youth Games.

Pom - thats an interesting one...never seen it tried

Dining room.....Have seen that called up. Think you have to be within the bounds of the line.

Not sure if it was correctly done though?

Taken from the FIL Rules:
34.7 At the time of a centre face-off, a team, which has 10 players
on the field of play (excluding the penalty box), shall confine
the goalkeeper and 3 other players in its defence goal area, 3
players in its attack goal area, and 1 player in each of its wing
areas
. When the whistle sounds to start play, the players in the
wing areas shall be released.
All other players are confined to the specified goal areas until
any player gains possession of the ball, the ball touches or
crosses a goal area line, or the ball goes out-of-bounds.
For the purpose of player release at a centre face-off, either
from the goal areas or the wing areas, the gloved hand is not
considered part of the crosse, whether or not it is holding the
crosse.

So no, you can't have 2 players from the same team on the same wing

Technical foul each time; loose ball so possession only, however, persistent technical fouling can be construed as unsportsmanlike conduct (a time serving personal foul).
