Lift-check becoming a hold

Postby GlyndwrLax1404 Sun Aug 28, 2011 4:43 pm

This came up at training the other night.

When checking the attacking players bottom hand and trying to lift the stick to dislodge the ball, at what point does the lift become a hold? Does it even become a hold?

Is it at the discretion of the zebra or is there some hard and fast rule. I've had a skim of the rules and not really seen anything. Help appreciated!

Stick on stick (including gloved hand) isn't a hold

Hope this clears it up:

stick on stick hold with a ball in it or within 9 feet of a loose ball- not a hold
stick on gloved hand holding a stick with a ball in it - not a hold
stick on gloved hand holding a stick without a ball in it and not within 9 feet of a loose ball - hold
stick on gloved hand or any other part of the body of an opposing play not within 9 feet of a loose ball or ball in possession - hold
