Custom Stringing

Postby WelshPikey Mon Dec 05, 2005 12:00 pm

Any chance of getting a custom stringing section on here to share pics, hints, tips?

Personally i try to take good care of my stick (shes named Kate) and after every session she comes in the shower with me and gets all lathered up. :D

This may sound pretty stupid, but cleaning and conditioning the strings (with ordinary hair conitioner) helps keep them much more supple, and they last longer too.

Stuff like that makes sure your stick throws the same way every time and improves ball retension. Theres loads out there, just wondering what kick ass designs and crazy ideas people have tried.

I'll get a picture of mine on here soon (it's at the girlfriends house), but it looks a bit special!

using conditioner on a hard mesh can make it go too soft (like soft mesh, which defeats the point of getting hard). And also doing this will make it softer and more likeley to frey and rip with friction on the side wall. Esp if its being used for face off. I learnt that the expensive way.

I only use conditioner on a mesh when i 1st string it as it breaks in sooo mutch faster.

and a stick-tech section here would have people regurgitating whats on e-lacrosse. Thats my opinion though. However a stick-help section for beginners may be of use.

I've been playing this game for 18 years and do not know the first thing about stringing sticks. A stick help section would probably help me.

Having said that, I think I would still give it to the club stick doctor to do a much better job.

Ha ha, every club has a 'stick doctor', maybe they should be named on the team sheet.

For the most comprehensive information on stringing, go to www.e-lacrosse.com.

Its got the fundamentals for basic mesh and trad, plus a whole load of specialist mesh, trad and hybrid pockets.

Also has sections on pinching and other stick related stuff.

Step by step instructions, its where I learnt to string!

i am aware of e-lacrosse, it's where i first learnt to string and decided to make a hybrid (i have a custom meditional).

But i'm also aware that most of this stuff is all american, and theres no real british input. Thats not really a big deal, i just thought we might have some stringing wizards among the ranks.

I am quickly becoming the team 'stick doctor', and to be honest theres days where i wish people bothered to learn themselves.

Surely there would be nothing wrong with an additional section? I bet we can come up with some awesome stuff.

Sorry Mr Stanford, I have given up reading properly, and just scan read everything.

But you are right, everything would be the same, and at the end of the day, the pros are gonna explain everything clearer than we can.

Pockets are going to be the same on both sides of the pond, if it ain't broke...
