Many years ago when I was a paper boy, I used to deliver 3 or 4 of these a month to the same address, you had to climb over piles of crap and across a 'garden' with the same density as a thick bramble briar to get to the front door. The shop I worked for used to only get one copy of each of these in just for him for a small town of about 10-15 000. Admittedly there were 4 newsagents, so possibly more were sold, but I wouldn't count on more than 1 or 2 per shop max.
In short not very many, but enough to make it economically viable.

I suspect they make an incredible amount of money from people just buying the first "cheap" issues and maybe a few after that.

I thought it was weekly? so you'd finish it when you're 14 and a half, not sure it would be any help with the ladies then either
