I've been watching th NCAA games recently, and when they're in the circle around the goal, passing the ball around, the players seem to catch it and bring the stick back then they look for the pass with the stick back over their shoulders ready to pass.
As they do this they seem to do an odd cradle. It looks like they're not using the wrist so much as moving the whole stick round in circles. Am I mis-seeing this or if not how do they do it - when I try the ball falls out. It's not in any coaching manual or section I've seen.

This type for cradling is sometimes referred to as "Bottom Hand Cradling". It's when the bottom hand controls the cradle, as opposed to the most commonly used "Top" Hand Cradle. Bottom hand cradling is hard to teach and takes some time. When mastered, it's a great way to be in full stride and have your stick in a shooting position.
