Part 5: The speed of the cut (slow) and the active stick and lookaway feed by Stanwick is rewarded by middie receiving feed wide open on crease and finishes with BTB low & away shot for the Goal.

It's tough to blame the defensive scheme or individual defender in this case, just great execution of spacing and timing by UVA offense.

From Offensive point of view:

UVA set up in 2-1-1-1-1 (counting from restrainer) creating a vertical line in the middle of the field where the attackers can go left or right

After the On ball Pick at X, the 1-1 on the crease (One High Crease; One Low Crease) splits left & right post

1st Crease cut takes defender away, 2nd crease cut (to ball) is a slow cut and just drifts into position

#6 Stanwick sells the Slide defender with a head & shoulder fake that he is going to feed up top

Defender bites on fake and Stanwick throws a slow floater "Spot" feed for cutter to run onto

Middie catches it late and finishes with BTB to "improve angle" and to showboat for TV & crowd.

******************
Denver & Virginia are both good offensive teams so hopefully Semi-Final #1 will be a track meet

Maryland vs Duke should be a physical battle that could go either way, Maryland showed v Syracuse that they are capable of slowing the game down with extended possession and dominant face-off play.

Is there a video of the Virginia play? I've seen a few NCAA teams pull out the 2-1-1-1-1 or 1-1-1-1-2 formation this year to confuse the defence.

As a feeder, Stanwick must have enjoyed all those shiny white helmets turned his way. He and Pannell have been magic this season, just a shame both couldn't get to the final four.

we've done it a few times as well...mostly by accident - but with guys who can go either way (no homo)- its a good option

you don't have to be ambidextrous to run out of a 1-1-1-1-2 but it does help if you have natural lefties as well as righties

The first dodger can Roll Out or Throw Back after they have drawn the slide to the next dodger who can attack weakside

i.e. Righty Dodger after Lefty has attacked or vice-versa

It also helps to have low post finishers on their natural side lefty on left post etc so they improve their angle to goal taking a strong hand shot
