Vets team?

Postby oldman Wed Nov 09, 2005 12:26 pm

The chat about second teams had me thinking that there might be some attraction in having mixed vets teams, say over 40.

Several potential benefits;
1. Increases the number of teams available for "social" non-league fixtures.
2. allows people who havent played for sometime to get back into the game
3. has it's own handicap with experience and fitness working in inverse relationships for both sides.
4. I might get a game (though I admit this is very selfish)

Years ago (12 maybe), there was a Masters (over 35) mens tournament. Would be great to see it come back. It was at Cheadle I think.

Cheeky sod! :evil:

Not a MASTEr yet! :lol:

But think it be great to see a tournament like this. There was one at the World Cup in Manchester in 1994, in fact they had Grand Masters too!

England used to send a Masters team to World Cups. Any plans to do this for next year?
