Re: Possible changes to football calendar....

And I thought LaxForums was getting boring, nothing like a good old ding dong to make it interesting again! The real growth in the Men's game is not in the North or South leagues and simply does not make allowances for the facts I suppose it depends on how you define 'real growth' but in the support...

Re: ATTENTION ALL SEMLA CLUBS

Mike, to answer your question, it depends on several factors It may be that the host club posts signs that say 'all users use this car park at their own risk, no liability accepted' which is not unusual at sports grounds in which case, it's unfortunate but there's no liability. But if that's not the...

Re: ATTENTION ALL SEMLA CLUBS

Raj, Personal injury is not covered if the accident happens as part of the normal course of playing lacrosse, it is a risk that you take by participating. It's the same in all contact sports. You can choose to mitigate that risk by taking out cover for personal accident/loss of income/compensation f...

Re: ATTENTION ALL SEMLA CLUBS

Danny, you (and everyone else) deserves to understand exactly what is covered so that you can make any decisions on additional cover according to your circumstances. Insurance is one of those issues that sends people to sleep until things go wrong and that's when they expect everything to be what it...

Re: ATTENTION ALL SEMLA CLUBS

Here is the text of the letter to SEMLA Clubs To SEMLA Clubs You will be aware of the recent concern that there has been over the level of cover provided by the ELA’s Public Liability Policy. The SEMLA Committee requested clarification of the cover from the ELA several weeks ago. Responses were prom...

Re: Can Women now play Men's lacrosse??

Ian, SEMLA have never made any byelaw on this, we were informed by the ELA that women were not allowed, we discussed it and that's all.

It was ironically about a month after the woman who was playing at Southampton was featured in Lacrossetalk.

Re: Can Women now play Men's lacrosse??

May be wrong but I heard that the real resistance to this was from the women's side where they fear that if women were allowed to play the 'men's game' so men would have to be allowed to play the women's game and that some teams would abuse that. The issue of two completely different sets of rules s...

Re: Two questions from today's game

Also the ruling covers for the much more frequent situation where a player runs out over the sidelines while chasing an opponent. If the rules were that you 'had' to maintain ten on the field 'at all times' then each time someone ran out the team would be committing a foul which is clearly nonsense ...

Re: Two questions from today's game

RULING: Legal play, as nothing in the rules requires a team to have ten men in the game at any time. IMHO, the above can't over-ride the requirement to maintain the offside rule. The ruling is surely intended to cover for the situation where the team is not offside at either end but for whatever rea...

FINAL REMINDER TO CLUBS

This is a final reminder for notification of minimum referee numbers for Season 2012-13. The deadline is midnight on October 31st each (and every) season As has been the case for a couple of years now, this is being treated very seriously and sanctions may be levied against your Club. Such sanctions...

Re: Hidden Ball trick

There are videos of variants of this trick on YouTube, the middies and attack go into a huddle and then all charge to the goal, defence is bamboozled and goalie doesn't know where the shot will come from. If it happened in a recent game, it'll be because someone saw it on YouTube and fancied trying ...

Re: League north structure

Just a suggestion but ten years ago when SEMLA faced similar problems we tackled them with some 'revolutionary' ideas (at least in some people's eyes) We removed the 13 man squad limit as it was losing players at clubs who couldn't get enough players for a second or third team and so the few extras ...

Re: SEMLA County Tournament POSTPONED

Gareth, I think that I wrote in that thread that the intention was to offer more people the chance to get involved at a more local level so that the same old people weren't always expected to do everything. No fixed rules, do it their way, create their own systems, hopefully form their own County As...

SEMLA County Tournament POSTPONED

Due to a misunderstanding over who was organising the event, we have only received three confirmed entries for the Tournament this Sunday. Since the event costs a lot of money to run, SEMLA cannot afford to lose money in this way. Therefore the Executive Committee has decided to postpone the Tournam...

So far I've only had confirmation of two counties entering a team for the Tournament on Sunday.
Could you please let me know if your county is entering a team and let me know who is the lead contact?

Re: Players Forum meeting

Several clubs have asked to go down. We discuss the reason openly at the SEMLA Committee and make a judgement as to what's best for that Club All the Clubs that have gone down have survived, there has never been an instance of a team manipulating the option, going down and then stuffing the other cl...

Re: Players Forum meeting

It would have left Nottingham playing Ashton, neither of which would have wanted to win the game! How do you account for that!!?? The SEMLA Play-off between the East and West Champions is entirely optional, either team can decline. The SEMLA play-off between 9th placed and loser of the E v W Champi...
