Re: Results 03 March 2012

Regarding Whitey's point about a 12 team division, we've discussed that several times and that would mean a 22 game regular season plus Flags games, Flags Finals weekend, Play-off weekend, Sixes weekend and a two week break over Christmas and no games over Easter weekend, that would mean a season of...

Re: Results 03 March 2012

Seems a shame that if we are bottom we cant fight to stay up... out of interest why is that? Because it is the sheer terror of being demoted that makes every game at the end of the season as exciting as the beginning, the get out of jail card of ninth place gives teams a second chance at survival b...

Re: South Counties Tournament

Since there are no County Associations the choice of team manager for each county is left to the group of clubs allocated into the county. Basically the first person willing to take the role (who can convince the others to accept his leadership) will organise the selection. Rules for eligibility are...

Re: South Counties Tournament

I'll be doing the organisation for the day, the start time and number/length of games will depend on the number of counties entering.
We'll have two pitches available
Currently expect a 11 or 12 noon start going through to 5pm

Re: Gloves and their Fit?

One idea would be to try on the gloves of all your team players and see if you find any that you like, then search for a pair online. Alternatively there is the National Junior Boys Tournament on March 4th in Oxford and there will be one or more vendor stands at that where you could try on new, non-...

SEMLA Team Manager Appointed

At last night's SEMLA Committee meeting the appointment of Joe Darkins as the new South Team manager was confirmed. Joe has over two decades of lacrosse experience having started playing for Cheadle before moving to play for Reading while at university, then moving with work into London and joining ...

Re: Lacrosse feature on Sky Sports

There's a saying that all publicity is good, but I think that the Sky Sports feature will have ticked a box for Sky to say that they show support for a wide range of sports but for us it will have simply reinforced the mass perception of lacrosse as basically a women's sport that's catching on at a ...

Re: Referees

How can the long term objective be any less than three refs? How can we not want the refs to be independent? What we work towards and what we can achieve and afford will vary over time. Do we give up now because there could be money problems? With respect, your focus is on the wrong part of the prob...

Re: Referees

Absolutely, three refs is the objective, all independent would be ideal, so the question is how do we get from where we are to where we all agree we want to be? We'd need an extra 100 or so independent and competent men's refs to be able to turn out enough panel refs North and South for the current ...

Re: Referees

The issue of indiscipline is the biggest one affecting the men’s game. Without a solution the game is effectively committing death by a thousand little cuts. Every tantrum, every argument, every dirty look discourages any potential new referee, it discourages new players, deters spectators and gener...

Reporting Results

To All Clubs The number of clubs failing to report results has been increasing recently and we need to get it back to the 100% that we have had previously. With the easy access to smartphones to get onto LaxForums there's really no excuse, home teams have primary responsibility and either an email t...

Re: Update to SEMLA league tables?

I should point out that Dave relies upon the results that are collated by Jon Cooper SEMLA Fixture Sec, who distributes the results and tables in Excel format to all SEMLA Clubs on a Sunday evening, so find out who gets them in your club and ask them to forward them to you.
