Re: Helmets for women's lacrosse?

I attended the NCAA women's DII and DIII final four in May and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Yet, as with many sports for both men and women, the game has changed in part because the athletes have changed. The phrase I often hear is that athletes have become bigger, faster and stronger. IMO tho...

Top Gear America

The first episode aired last week, man was it bad. What is the saying? "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" Well if I were the BBC boys I would not be flattered at all. Second episode last night wasn't much better.

Re: Sports Essay

I'd be happy to give you an American perspective (not so much on cricket) if you'd like. However, before I answer your pm I have to take care of a few things. First, I have to stop by the stylist to have the flow trimmed. Then I have to pick up Marci and take her out to the Hamptons to show her off ...

The NCAA takes students from all over the World who are the best at their sport There are no restrictions on number of Canadian Ice Hockey or Lacrosse players or Kenyan middle distance runners, or New Zealand Rugby players ( But (correct me if I'm wrong) there is a cap on the number of scholarships...

Re: Sieverts on life at Durham University

So that American UNI is no benefit to American tennis players. do you have to pay to watch NCAA games? The difference is in the UK the tax payer funds the uni so we are paying for American players to fill rosters stopping English players playing and subsidizing foreign education at no benefit to th...

Re: Lacrosse Spot!

In case there any NFL fans out there. New England played the Indy Colts last night and Coach Belichick took to the field after the game. If memory serves, his son plays at Rutgers U. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2010/11/22/woodhead_shows_versatility/?page=2 Postgame lacros...

Re: Faking a Shot

A well executed shot fake on a jumper, pump fake under the basket, or ball fake on a pass will work probably 80 - 90% of the time, and by "work" I mean get the defender off balance or out of position so you can make a play. Defense, by its nature, is reactionary, and it's difficult for de...

Re: world games england

The U.S. host it in 2014 and if tradition holds, Australia and Canada would get in '18 and '22. Of course other countries could bid, and it wouldn't surprise me to see Japan or another country get it. That is if others can demonstrate they have the funding, location and support to host what is growi...

Re: Ryder Cup 2010

Congrats to the Europeans, what a great match. After Sunday, I didn't think It would be worth watching Monday's action but I recorded it anyway. Glad I did as I watched it all after work. Good stuff excpet for security at the end. Perhaps my memory isn't what it used to be but I can't recall a scene...

Re: www.archlevellacrosse.com

er, 0-1 usually! Correct. One day it will change... You sure? No offense but don't see how when paying that rate. Here in Texas we have some similar issues in that we have a shortage of officials, coaches, practice and game fields. However, we are gaining ground regarding officials as football refs...

30 GBP's that is shared? How many do you usually have, 2 or 3 refs? That's absurd!

Re: Beville and Scaramuzzino

Their biographies are thorough but no mention of a dark, wet winter coaching in the Old Country. Maybe they're succeeding despite their stint in England. Trust me, as they are grew up or played in the Syracuse area they were used to dark, wet winters. That's why I got the hell out of upstate NY as ...

Re: Fixtures

Please explain to this outsider why all the matches are played on Saturday? Can't some games be held on Friday evenings or Sunday? Is it lack of fields? To tie this in with the thread regarding on the shortage of officials, from my admittedly uniformed opinion, it would seem that you may get more fo...
