Re: New Teams/League Structure 11/12

My understanding is that there is nothing against having more than one team from a club in the same league except the Prem. From a "Rules" perspective I think you're correct, though I also think Julius is asking whether EG think it will benefit or harm their development to have 2 teams in...

Re: NEW HELMET DISCUSSION!!! CPX Vs CPX-R go :D

I had a similar dilemma recently. I opted to go for the CPX but upgraded to a Ti facemask (Lax.com currently has the Ti on sale).

Can't really put my finger on why I went for the CPX other than I have had one for 5 year and its held up very well, I've not heard anything bad about the Pro7s either

I thought it was weekly? so you'd finish it when you're 14 and a half, not sure it would be any help with the ladies then either

Why not? @ £0.59p I don't think many people would hold off buying and could cover some costs, I know I would.

Re: The Great Big Bad Durham Thread

just out of interest is it percieved that it would be fairer if the team where made up of a similar number of equally skilled North Americans that attended the university without incentive? or in addition, would the situation be accepted generally if the team were made up of a majority of England u1...

not much at all really especially when I think Herts Uni alone is funded to the tune of 40-50+ Million per year (not inc research, PGCE, and general postgrad)

Re: The Great Big Bad Durham Thread

Keith, I think you my have missed my post above. Undergraduate places are capped by UK government, postgrad places are not. Furthermore the break-even point for a postgrad course is normally met from UK applicants entirely, resulting in overseas applicants filling the coffers an meeting the overhead...

Keith - I know its a side track from the main discussion but just to answer this point. The UK government puts a cap on undergraduate numbers at all universities, ho...

Re: The Great Big Bad Durham Thread

Sorry 'UoP Mark', but have you actually played Durham, or even seen them play? I'm afraid you have seriously underestimated the situation/Durham. But does that matter? My first ever viewing/playing of lacrosse was when Welwyn hosted a large proportion of the welsh internationals for a scrimmage. I ...

Re: The Great Big Bad Durham Thread

My understanding is that bucs funding is twofold,

Firstly bucs is funded by the government and travel grants etc come to universities direct from bucs

Secondly bucs point scores are accumulated by universities and a proportion of university block grants from th government are based on these scores

Re: The Great Big Bad Durham Thread

If lacrosse in Britain is truly to develop, any money available should be spent on coaches, facilities, and equipment, encouraging the best guys from club level to apply there for university. In an ideal world yes. However as many would tell you having the facilities doesn't guarantee you have anyo...

i have a question.... How the hell do durham find the time to train 6 times a week I'm guessing with great difficulty! Re: Predictions for BUCS Championships

You are taking a very optimistic view about the future of Lacrosse. Going to AU's to convince them to give us new goals, an extra session for training, a new set of kit is hard enough. Our country's top sports dont have this. Rugby, football etc. do not train 6 days a week, so why will Lacrosse be ...

Re: Predictions for BUCS Championships

Do we want a shift towards the Durham style of support from Universities? Do we want Lax to be viewed as a serious sport? As a player do we want to be able to train 6 days a week, with the right equipment/training methods? If the answer to the above is yes then we have to accept that Durham need to ...

Re: Defence gloves

possibly try sticking a blister plaster on the inside of the glove. These may even be thick enough to put a couple of stiches in place to hold it a bit more long term. In addition to the thicker palm comment from Mort above - the Reebok 9K have leather palms that are suitably thick but offer a nice ...

Re: Promotion and relegation

I'm pretty sure it's 2 up 2 down in all leagues bar premiership and prem feeder.

Also I gather there is no ruling to prevent 2 teams from the same club in the same league, except for the prem where only 1 team is allowed per club.
