Re: NEMLA Restructure

Sounds sensible to implement the one change at a time.

It's only an opportunity missed if clubs already have the required number of qualified referees in place. Otherwise the league needs the refs panel to organise a fast-track refereeing course quickly!

Re: Referee Shortage - What's the Solution?

This is something that Yorkshire have been doing for a few years now. We have actively encourage teams in our region to take the referee qualification and have also subsidised them to make it more affordable. We then encourage the newly qualified refs to referee the Yorkshire-run tournaments (such ...

Re: Referee Shortage - What's the Solution?

Good topic to start up and probably one the biggest issues in sport, not just lacrosse. Zero tolerance of officials has to be the most important point and should not just apply to the players but also to the coaches and also spectators, especially at junior level. It's quite a common conversation to...

Re: NEMLA Restructure

The referee shortage is well known and getting worse. Among discussions last night for the League was that for every team a Club enters they MUST provide a Referee So every fixture will have a Home Referee & an Away Referee. This was seen as a move for the future but until it is brought in (or ...

Re: NEMLA Restructure

Are you saying that the 1st team structure should not be worthy of a panel ref? As a positive for the newer clubs not used to playing with a panel ref it will be a welcome change from home refs in D5 and hoepfully will aid their development. Yup, pretty certain that's not what I said. I'll expand m...

Yup, no take-outs in D3, D4 or D5 whereas there was in Prem and D2.

Aside from that the major difference is surely the speed of the game.

Re: NEMLA Restructure

Come on Jeff. Where's the 'can do' attitude? So many people seem to be so dead set on this failing that they are just listing out all of the potential pit falls - presumably so that when something does go wrong (which it will) they can come back on here and say 'told you so'. Use your energy better...

Re: NEMLA Restructure

Please explain why the restructure is terrible for the growth of the game Working on the basis that both Durham and Chester are joining the league (which I believe is the case), what if hypothetically two smaller clubs were to lose players, are unable to fulfil fixtures and fold? Does this constitu...

Re: NEMLA Restructure

The Premier 1 will still be the flagship of NEMLA and should remain unaffected by any restructuring. Trig, I'm not sure people necessarily agree with this comment. It's been noticeable over the last few years that there has been about 12 1st teams vying for the top ten Premiership spots with some y...

Re: NEMLA Restructure

Anybody know how panel ref's will be allocated? I'd assume that Prem 1, 2 &3 will have priority in that order followed by the reserve divisions. Essentially this would put NEMLA 1 in the place of the old D4 in the pecking order for refs. Trig, when was the last time you had a panel ref come to L...

'10-'11 Season

World's are now over (and the Mahou has drained from the bloodstream-just!) so does anybody know what's happening for this season? Do we have a release date for fixtures? Who got promoted and relegated as I can't find final up-to-date league tables anywhere? Are we going to find out that the league ...

Massive thanks to Claire and all at Blues for all their hard work over the weekend. The food, and in particular the cakes, was awesome.

Congrats to all the teams who came out with silverware. I might have recovered in time for next year.
