Re: New Season... meh

Why did Cheadle not have a fixture until the week 3 of the season? Why does Mersey play 2 games them miss 2 weekends? Why does Stockport play 3 games the miss 2 weeks? None of this really helps create non-player's interest in the game. Sometime around Jan/ Feb we will be bemoaning the fact that game...

Re: England Squad

Good points Dave, and everyone will have their opinions on those. How does the women's game deal with these issues? Do they hold 'open international' trials, do they actively seek to find non-domestic players who meet the FIL criteria? Maybe five US players who have learnt to play, and played their ...

Re: England Squad

A few facts for the pom to consider... 2014 No of 'overseas' (not English born) = 5 Out of squad of 23 = 22% 2010 No of 'overseas' (not English born) = 7 Out of squad of 23 = 30% Of the 5 selected this time around, 2 (Standiford and Clive) were part of the successful 2012 squad. Therefore only 3 ne...

Re: GoPro use in games

Surprised by your comments jsgi. Firstly "Personally I would be OK with it on a goalkeeper in a festival like bluesfest but not in any serious game" ... so festival like bluesfest = non-serious game? So are you suggesting that Bluesfest is not played to the the standard safety rules of lac...

Re: GoPro use in games

Can't see how any referee would allow an attachment to a helmet like a GoPro regardless of which position. Mind you, the refs in a Premiership 1 game last season were going to allow the game to start with one goalie not having a throat guard, so anything's possible!

Re: Cup Semi-Final Draw

What is the format is it seeded or are there sides of the draw or are all names back in the hat and drawn randomly. Effectively can Stockport and cheadle meet before the final Or will it be sorted so they don't Cheadle and Stockport have effectively been separated at the semi-final stage for the 4t...

Re: NEMLA Results - 15th March

Think you'll find it was 18-4!
Hence the error entering it into the system as 14-8.

NEMLA Results - 15th March

Mersey vs Boardman - strange reporting of this game - it was 9-1 to Mersey at the half, so a final result as reported and logged of 14-8 must have been a major turnaround! However, the facts are somewhat different ... final result 18-4 to Mersey.

Re: New League Structure

So, does the same rule apply for next season's Flags that the top 4 from the previous season are seeded?
Will the Semi's be redrawn this season after the Quarters, as in previous years?

Re: Ashes 2013-14

It appears incredible that the ECB have taken this seemingly unprecedented action regarding KP. I'm in two minds about KP, partly because he's a massive talent, but along with that talent comes a massive ego. He almost appears hypo when interviewed on occasions and difficult to really understand wha...

NEMLA Flags Cup Competitions

Has anyone got any idea of the format of this season's Flags and Cup Competitions?
Has anything been published on dates, who is playing who, or is it a closely guarded secret?

Re: MLL Finals

We have BT Sport as part of the BT Broadband package, and the BT Sport has been added through our Sky Box. ESPN and ESPN America have also been added back. You have to provide BT with your Sky Card # and they manage the process. Surprisingly for BT it was quite painless!

Re: Men's WC - Manchester 2018

The bigger the tournament becomes, the more difficult it is for emerging countries to host the event. Not only that, but the costs escalate and there are not many venues that can guarantee not only to cover those costs (through spectators etc), but also make a donation to the FIL. The FIL would be b...

Re: Men's WC - Manchester 2018

Davo, the submission to the FIL was based upon the same facilities being used.
My guess is that the whole concept was based around the same partners .... Manchester City Council and Manchester University.

Re: Mesh Colours

Good point. I thought they removed the 16.6 because the wording was ambiguous, and no alternative could be agreed. 16.8 is no better, and is open to a wide interpretation i.e. I'm the ref and I'll decide what your intentions are/ were. Mind you you should be playing men's lacrosse with a white ball,...

Re: Late hit

I've always understood that 'safety' was the prime consideration in women's lacrosse?
If that is true then any play which is dangerous, regardless of intent, should be penalised. That should also be the case
even if a goal is scored.
